Dieu Nalio Chery was born in Haiti and began photographing in his uncle's photo studio when he was twenty-years-old. He documented the social injustice in Haiti's slums after former President Jean Bertrand Aristide went into exile in 2004, and the rampant violence in the wake of the 2010 earthquake. Chery freelances for the Associated Press focusing on illegal arrests, hunger, homelessness, flooding and reconstruction. Chery's style is marked by photojournalism pictures, honestly with all the joy and spontaneity of a unique moment, and quietly recorded to the maximum utilization of the light environment itself, which makes that moment a real keepsake for a lifetime.
