Sugarfoot Films is a boutique production studio based in New York and Cyprus. With a strong focus on creative documentary, we specialize in stylized shorts, video journalism, cultural productions and digital media education for clients including the United Nations,, Current TV and Al Jazeera. Working in collaboration with a close circle of creatives, we often apply guerilla filmmaking techniques without sacrificing production value to engender intimacy with our subjects and produce work with a heart. Founded by Alana Kakoyiannis, a filmmaker, who has worked independently to produce several short pieces that have been screened internationally at such venues as the Tribeca Film Festival, Raindance Film Festival, and Kassel Documentary Film & Video Festival. Her 2008 film, Cosmopolis, garnered the Grand Jury Prize for Best International Documentary in the Migr@tions Online Festival held by Radio Canada International. In the Fall of 2011, Alana was invited to lecture on filmmaking and documentary practice at the American University in Cairo. Raised in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, she earned her M.F.A from Hunter College-CUNY and her B.A. from Denison University.
