Tenzin Shakya is a Tibetan-American Journalist with more than four years of experience producing news stories in private and nonprofit journalism. She covers stories related to social justice, peace and security, national security, and human rights. Before becoming a journalist, Shakya worked for Rethink Media, a nonprofit organization working to shift the public discussion on issues related to peace and security, national security, and human rights. Shakya graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Women and Gender Studies. Her work has been published in San Mateo County Times, San Jose Mercury News, Contra Costa Times, and The Oakland Tribune.
