The battered kapenta, fried okra and lemon butter sauce were recommended to me by the host to ease me into my dining experience. The okra was cut into thin stripes, coated in a batter and fried, similarly the fresh kapenta was also battered to hold the moisture and deep-fried. I would not have ordinarily ordered this particular starter, as I am locally accustomed to eating okra and kapenta accompanied with nshima and had never before eaten it differently. I was pleasantly surprised.
Botanica is founded on providing fresh produce through a farm to table concept. This is conveyed as you walk into the restaurant which is infused with a variety of fresh herbs growing on the shelves. Ciela is environmentally friendly in all areas, the drinking water served at the establishment is green distilled by osmosis at the hotel premises, the restaurant windows have been specifically designed to absorb heat naturally, over one thousand trees have been planted at the hotel.
As I walked into the 7th Sense Restaurant and chose the best table in the restaurant, a corner table overlooking Kabulonga road with a breath-taking aerial view of the central suburb, I could not help but notice the new and finer additions to the restaurant from my last visit. The new décor included green indoor plants which related in a visual connection of the freshness of the ingredients served.
