I currently shoot on a Canon XF300 camera, using either a wireless lavalier mic, or using a handheld omnidirectional microphone. When I’m out on assignment in the field, I will capture the footage not only the best I can, but only when I feel my client will be beyond satisfied with the results. This is the story of an underground rock 'n' roll scene trying to stay alive in the unlikely town of Norfolk, Virginia. It is told through its "hardcore" music fans that won't let it die—those that create fanzines, record labels and generally support the music—along with local musicians over time, including Gary "U.S." Bonds, Gene Vincent, Front Line, At War, The M-80's, and The Candy Snatchers.
I shot all video in this and edited this piece as well. Cox 11 visits Virginia Beach for the nation's largest Suicide Prevention walk, Out of the Darkness. Hear the personal stories on a day of hope as citizens and military alike turn out in full support to combat depression.
This video was shot by both COX11's Kevin Hornsby and myself. I edited this video as well for COX11's "Hot Ticket." Cox Partners with the USO to present Warrior Week at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. Wounded Warriors compete in athletic competitions, a Military Village is on display for the public, and a LCAC Hovercraft arrives on the shore from Little Creek Amphibious Base.
