John Edward Myers is an environmental conservationist and award-winning writer and filmmaker from Minneapolis, Minnesota (USA). From 2005-2020, he held leadership positions with The Nature Conservancy, National Audubon Society, WWF and Conservation International. Since 1998, he's lived, worked, studied, taught, and reported extensively across Latin America and the Caribbean, including long stints in Colombia, Mexico, Bolivia, Guatemala and Cuba.
His writing and conservation projects have been featured in the Economist, BBC, Mongabay, Outside Magazine, Birding, Atlas Obscura, Audubon Magazine, Diners, and the Stanford Social Innovation Review. He is a regular contributor to Colombia's El Espectador.
His writing and films explore biodiversity conservation, climate finance, human rights, music, education, birds, immigration, peace and conflict across Latin America and the Caribbean. He has worked extensively with Indigenous, Afro-Colombian and campesino communities.
