Simone Del Rosario is an award-winning journalist who followed her passion for telling compelling stories around the world. She most recently covered immigration and border issues in Southern Arizona for two years and regularly gained exclusive access to government operations. Before that, she traveled India telling stories for an international network audience. In one piece, she exposed illegal practices in a tourist beach town called Goa, where resorts used tankers to steal water from local wells. Simone received her master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University, where she honed her skills of visual storytelling for multiple platforms.
For two years, I worked as a general assignment reporter for the ABC affiliate in Southern Arizona. This reporter reel is a conglomeration of stories I told during that time, from Emmy-nominated live coverage of a riot to a variety of stories told on both sides of the border that garnered national attention.
Goa is a beach town on the southern tip of India and a tourist destination for people around the world. Though tourism drives the economy, it also uses eight times the amount of water as local Goans. During peak season, locals have access to water for only two hours every other day while fountains flow freely at resorts.
