About

I am the mother a teacher and a writer. I began telling stories through documentary film in 2006 after winning the BET Black AIDS Institute RAP IT UP Screenwriting Competition with a story about how AIDS affected a black church. I look for the obvious stereotype and try to understand it from a different perspective. My films have studied how the words we use create conflict or compassion in our communities, and examined whether streets named after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. reflect his dream. I am currently developing a documentary about Individualized Educational Plans (IEP) and the Special Education system. I am applying to pitch a story to POV's Documentary Short call about Black Male Achievement.
