Request QuoteIRLANDA TAMBASCIO WAINE (Eire) is a director, writer, film editor and comic book author born in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1977, and now a Spanish national, based in Madrid. After graduating in Image and Sound from the Universidad Complutense, she began work as a film editor and has since edited over 200 audiovisual works, from series, mass audience reality shows, music video, short films with successful runs at festivals, as well as documentaries like "Pirates and Dragonflies"(Honorable Mention at La Seminci, Valladolid); "La cabeza de Joseph" -directed by Alicia Luna-; or "I decide. The Train of Freedom", together with Teresa Font -selected at the 62nd San Sebastian International Film Festival. As a director, she debuted in 2007 with her short film "Essence", and in 2009 she directed a "Making of "about the baroque opera "La Parténope" for the Ministry of Culture. In 2011 she shot her second short film "El Regalo", produced, written and directed by Irlanda and praised by Javier Fesser. She has won the 10th Award for Proyecto Corto Canal Plus + Festival International Film Festival Cinema Jove for "Atocha 70". This film received more than a dozen awards at Spanish and international festivals, including the first prize of the audience at Corto España 2013. In 2019, she directed the short film "Equals", nominated for the About Film Award at the Notodofilmfest and finalist in the I Festival MICRO. That same year, her fiction project "Rara(s) Avis", was selected for the Coofilm Residence. In 2020, she released the video clip "Mike Hunt" for the band Patio Rosemary, reviewed by LOS40. As a comic book author, she debuted with "Aves Metropolitanas", a bestiary set on the Madrid Metro (Pub. Alianza); then came "Adelaide & Coco" (Pub. Grijalbo), a graphic novel about the daily life of a young urbanite and her cat, which has been widely acclaimed by the media and was recommended by critics (PlayGround, The Huffington Post and Forges, among others). Her third book is a group effort co-written and co-illustrated with Syrian women refugees in Lebanon, called "The Women of Aaramoun"(NGO Urdaspain). Its prologue was written by the project's godmother, Rosa Montero, who called this book "a miracle". Her fourth book: "Damned Cats (a catalogue of feline souls)", has been published by Alianza Editorial this year and her last work are the illustration of "Insolation" a novel written by Emilia Pardo Bazán (Ed. Alianza). She is also makes photos in CIMA team in CORTO, a monthly film festival that screens audiovisual works made by women and is currently hosted by the Cineteca at the Matadero in Madrid.
