India's Yamuna River is a major source of water for the city of Delhi, but is also slowly dying due to illegal sand mining. This destroys the river's ecosystem and is a big issue for people living along its banks.
The Aravali hills in the state of Rajasthan are being diminished due to rampant mining and urbanisation causing frequent sandstorms and posing a significant threat to local biodiversity. But villagers and initiatives are standing up against it.

By Richard Kujur, Jessica Goel and Abhishek Yadav Every winter, a thick blanket of smog engulfs Delhi and the National Capital Region as farmers in the states of Punjab and Haryana burn millions of tonnes of paddy stubble to clear their farms for the sowing of wheat. When the skies over Delhi began to fill with smoke in October 2020, we began tracing the smog from Punjab to Delhi while also looking at efforts being made to deal with the crisis. We wanted to find out if the farmers could be blamed for it, or was it due to the government’s failure to offer an alternative to stubble burning?

Mohammed Arif, a resident of Khori Gaon village in the northern state of Haryana, awaits the demolition of his house, just as more than 100,000 other area residents do after the Supreme Court of India’s ruling that the village sits 'illegally' on a forest land.
The documentary focuses on the lives of young tibetan refugees living in India. The documentary was made as a part of a college project.
Duka Devi is nearly 100 years old but her activist spirit appears to be as youthful as it must have been during the ‘Chipko’ movement she was part of decades ago. In that agitation in Raini village in Uttarakhand state’s Chamoli district in the 1970s, women from the Bhotia indigenous community hugged trees and offered to be shot by loggers, successfully preventing felling of trees. The agitation continues to be an inspiration to many environmental movements around the world, but the village from where it originated is now itself under threat due to the government’s development projects. Devi says she will not allow that to happen.
