Request QuoteAfter receiving his doctorate in sociology at the University of Paris X, France, Gérard Schmidt created and managed a film company whose mission was to produce and distribute cultural documentaries and short films with an international focus. He sold his catalogue at major international TV conventions such as MIP, MIPCOM and NATPEE. Relying on his deep knowledge of European co-production and financing, Gérard has led training seminars to emergent film professionals. As a Producer/director/shooter/editor he’s created content for all formats: broadcast, DVD and web. He’s coordinated with researchers, journalists, graphic designers, web developers and audio/video technicians. Comfortable with content management systems and internet-based processes, he is very familiar with cross-disciplinary collaboration. With his company Digital Wonder, Gérard produces, directs, shoots and edits concerts, interviews, promos and all formats video for American and international clients. In 1997 he moved from Paris to New York and joined Metropolis DVD as Executive Producer and Director of Special Features, negotiating with major music labels and bands in the US and France, including The Rolling Stones, Slipknot, Nickelback, DMX, Ben Harper, Johnny Hallyday, Def Leppard. He shot and edited numerous video segments for these artists. Continuing in this field, he joined Masque Entertainment as Managing Director creating a new DVD production department and directing/shooting concerts and video segments. Anticipating the shift to online media, he was named VP of Venue Operation and Productions at Livestream.com where he created and managed a department, streaming thousands of live concerts online with an original and proprietary remote control system. He has worked for several start-ups and companies as Director of International Business Development including at DuArt Media Services, the oldest post-production facility in New York City. This was shot at the Best Buy theater with two cameras. Low budget. I produced, shot and edited this segment. I shot hundreds of videos for this company.
This segment is part of a DVD shot in MonteCarlo and financed by Executive Producer Miles Copeland. I was the field producer and the director of the videos.
This is not an easy task to shoot with such a crowd in the street and get close enough to the action. I had a junior camera operator with me for second camera. We edited lots of 3mn segments for the Parade.
This was shot at the Standard in NYC during sound check. Last minute interview. I had to prepare some questions in situ as this interview was not planned.
