Following a deadly factory fire in June 25, where a majority of lives were foreign day laborers working blue collar jobs at a factory in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, my article explores the topic of foreign worker rights in South Korea. Though very dependent on such workers, this article reveals that South Korea still lacks mechanism to ensure foreign workers are guaranteed proper worker rights. This article was the first article published in Korea as of press time that also covered this issue.
With the recent martial law debacle in South Korea, attempts have been made to arrest President Yoon Suk Yeol as well as conduct a search and seizure of the presidential office and residence. As such efforts have been deemed ineffective and Yoon wasn't successfully detained, this article explores possible methods the police plan to take to ensure the 2nd arrest attempt is made successful.
For this article, I interviewed someone who identified themselves as a victim of deepfake pornography while also interviewing various experts on the psychological mindset behind those who create and distribute deepfake content to others.
