Request a demoBen Garvin is freelance documentary filmmaker and certified drone pilot based in Minneapolis. He's worked for VICE, PBS NewsHour, Kartemquin, Atlantic Pictures and many other documentary and news crews. He's earned numerous national honors, including multiple Murrow Awards and the Alfred I. duPont Award for his acclaimed film feature documentary Love Them First (www.lovethemfirst.com), now available on Amazon Prime. Garvin started his career as a still photographer working for newspapers on the east coast and freelancing for the New York Times and the AP in New York City. He met his wife out east and she convinced to move to Minnesota where Garvin worked for the Pioneer Press newspaper and KARE11 (NBC affiliate). He grew up in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where he studied creative writing at the University of Arkansas and went on to earned a BFA in Visual Journalism from the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York. He lives in South Minneapolis with wife Jessica and four kids Arthur, Lewis, Netta and Bailey.
