About
I'm a freelance video journalist based in London, covering everything from business to culture for a range of TV news channels, including CCTV and Channel News Asia. For a full CV and work samples, check out www.elenacasas.com.
I spent much of last year in Ukraine, covering the annexation of Crimea and then the war
in the East for various outlets, and previously to that I was AFP video correspondent in Latin America, covering events like the death of Hugo Chavez or slum clearance in Rio de Janeiro ahead of the World Cup. I'm a creative, independent and self-starting video journalist
bursting with ideas, and especially keen to tell overlooked stories (I recently spent several
weeks in refugee centres in Sicily, for example, telling the stories of African and Syrian
migrants who have endured great hardship to reach Europe - something about which we
hear a great deal of opinion, but little of the migrants' own voices.)
