Oil Spill Reignites Tensions Over Role of Oil Industry in the Region
In 2014 there was an intense battle in Santa Barbara between the oil industry and environmentalists over ballot measure P, which would have banned "high intensity" oil and gas extraction and whose opposition heavily outfunded and defeated the measure. I propose to revisit the initiative's supporters to find out how this new spill may change the landscape of public opinion and offer new leverage.
