Eight years ago, Lam left Vietnam for Chicago, the hub of street dance in the 1970s. To bring the glory back to his city, Lam takes his crew to a dance battle in Ohio. However, defending the truth of hip-hop culture as an Asian dancer is not an easy task.
Birdy came to Chicago in 1998 with dreams of being a fashion designer. But art school was out of reach. So, she taught herself to sew. To celebrate her 50th birthday and her 25 years in the US, Birdy unveils her line at a lavish fashion show, three months before she leaves for her home country.
The queer tradition of ballroom, which started in New York in the last century, made its debut in Guangzhou, China, in 2018, thanks to Purpo and his dancer friends. Having experienced alienation, Purpo started the Guangzhou ballroom scene as a shelter for his community. However, directing a queer event is tougher than he expected.
