I am an award-winning Tagalog filmmaker and journalist. I was a Fulbright Scholar who holds a Master’s degree in documentary filmmaking from New York University where I was also a recipient of the NYU GSAS Scholarship. I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing from the University of the Philippines – Diliman.
I directed, wrote and produced two films: Cuchera and Nuwebe, which have been screened in over 60 international film festivals including Toronto, Stockholm, Fribourg, Cleveland, Belgrade, Montreal, Vancouver, Geneva and Goteborg.
Aside from my work in film, I also contribute to TV, print and online media. Last November, I produced a documentary for Get Real of Channel News Asia. I have also contributed articles and video work to The New York Times, GMA Network and Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism.
I won as Best Director at the 2015 ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards and Grand Prize at the 2014 UNICEF Child Rights Awards.
