Encarcerados (The Incarcerated) is a feature-length documentary about São Paulo's penitentiaries as seen through the eyes of veteran prison guards. I joined the project to write an editing script based on 80 hours of raw footage that had already been shot. I worked daily with the editor from first to final cut and helped shoot additional footage inside two São Paulo prisons. The film toured the Brazilian festival circuit and was released in theaters across the country in 2021.
Quebrando o Tabu (Breaking the Taboo) is a topical documentary series that aired on the Brazilian cable channel GNT, part of Canais Globo, Latin America's largest producer of paid televised content. The series premiered in 2018 and ran for two seasons. Each 40-minute episode tackled a different subject, from privacy in the age of mass surveillance to prostitution. I wrote 14 of the series' 18 episodes and directed two.
