Nyier Abdou is an American video journalist, filmmaker and multimedia producer. A longtime newspaper reporter, she worked as a print reporter based in Cairo for more than six years. In 2005, she moved back to the U.S. to join The Star-Ledger newspaper, where she worked for nine years and moved from print to video journalism, going on to produce award-winning documentaries and news features with the paper. She is comfortable shooting hard news, news features and long-form documentary and edits in both Premiere and Final Cut Pro. She is capable of writing and voicing narration, as well as cutting nat-sound packages. Her work has earned six New York Emmy awards, including best documentary and writing for her recent documentary, “Being George,” as well as awards from the National Press Photographers Association and the Associated Press Sports Editors.
