This is a story based in Johannesburg, South Africa. I collaborated with an old time friend and I was a photographer on the project. The area is void of any electricity connections and to survive, the people here have found a way to substitute coal heat (which is expensive) to mixing coal dust and clay to make a coal like material that they can heat up and cook food.
