I'm a freelance video producer and journalist based in Brussels, Belgium. I’ve produced video, multimedia and written content from South Sudan, Sierra Leone and Bosnia & Herzegovina on behalf of Doctors Without Borders. I’m also a former producer for original content (covering Europe and sub-Saharan Africa) for Al Jazeera's AJ+, where I helped craft stories on everything from education among nomadic Russian reindeer herders to desperate hunger in far north Cameroon.

As AJ+ editor for original short content from Europe and sub-Saharan Africa, I put a call-out for stories along this angle and ultimately commissioned, produced and scripted (and did the voiceover for) this piece. I worked closely with Ghana-based VJ Mark Naftalin and the video's main character, Comfort Arthur, to bring this story to life.

Produced, scripted, worked as secondary video shooter and oversaw post-production of this film for Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) on small budget and shooting timeline. I hired a freelance primary shooter in South Africa and a freelance editor upon return to MSF in Brussels. This version has VO by a South African presenter. Another version is slightly longer with VO by me.
Commissioned, produced and scripted this three-part series out of the Lake Chad Basin, where people face violence, food insecurity and more amidst a complex crisis that the UN has called the world's most neglected humanitarian crisis. This series was the 2017 StoryHunter staff pick for "Best Short-Form Documentary Series". Video and field production is by SH freelancer Vlad Sokhin.
This is a reported long read for Al Jazeera: Nearly 500 migrants and refugees held a two-month-long hunger strike in a bid to obtain the right to live and work legally in Belgium. But what was achieved and what comes next?

In 2016 for AJ+ and Al Jazeera, I spent time aboard a search-and-rescue ship operated by NGO MOAS as it rescued refugees and migrants from the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Libya. During that trip, I broadcast a rescue operation on FB Live, wrote a daily blog on AJ+'s Medium account and more. Here is one dispatch from that trip. For this video, I shot the footage, but did not script it.
