About

Marcia is a seasoned production manager and line producer who has also served as a showrunner on several productions. With extensive experience in television, film and commercial productions, she has worked in South Africa, throughout the African continent, and around the world for nearly twenty years. Marcia most recently managed a team from the U.S. headquarters of AirBnB in Cape Town. During the funeral of former South African President Nelson Mandela, she managed BET News’ team in three locations across the country. Marcia has also served as a content producer and researcher for History Channel’s History of Football in Africa and Making World Cup History in the lead up to the 2018 FIFA Soccer World Cup. She lead the production team on the international feature film The Journey is the Destination and worked on Netflix’s Jadotville shot on location in Johannesburg. Prior to that, Marcia line produced For Love and Broken Bones, a made-for-TV South African film which won Best Film Award at the Portland International Film Festival. Marcia was part of the launch team of Comedy Club: Live in Lagos which grew to become a continent-wide platform for African comedians. With increasing responsibility from production manager, line producer and finally series producer she expanded the program working to create seasons in Mombasa and Kampala. She also production managed a season of Coke Studio East/West, a pan-African television music show broadcast to thirteen countries and translated into eight languages. Marcia led the production unit of Studio 53, a pan-African magazine show. She has worked across all television genres holding senior production and content roles in talk, drama, live TV, and reality. Marcia has typically overseen productions from inception to post-production and she is extremely well versed in budgeting, scheduling, day-to-day management of cast and crew, brainstorming content and post production. She has exceptional organisational, communication and management skills, and has travelled extensively for work and pleasure. In 2018, Marcia returned to Vassar College on a full scholarship to write her thesis thereby completing her BA degree in Africana Studies. Her strong analytical and research skills as well as her life experience as a mature student helped her fulfil this long-standing goal.
