About

Graduated at New York majored MFA in film, Xiaolei has shot numerous shorts and worked on various film projects, and mentored by Luca Bigazzi (DOP of THE GREAT BEAUTY, winner of an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2014). Xiaolei believes that good cinematography is good visual storytelling, thinks film should be about human connection - exploring relationships in the context of a story and also what we feel for the characters on screen. His work Zebrafish won National Board of Review in 2019, also took home the Best Cinematography Award and Best Film at New York CityVision Film Festival.
