LGBTI demonstrators in Havana demand Civil Rights

Hundreds from Cuban LGBTI community gathered in the streets of central Havana before the International Day of Anti-Homophobia to protest homophobia and demand the introduction of same-sex marriage. The demonstration also marked the 10th anniversary of the Cuban Conference against Homophobia and Transphobia, pushing the government to officially recognize the LGBTI community and secure its rights.

They make great tattoos but it’s “alegal”

The Cuban government currently permits 201 types of private business but tattoo parlours are not one of them. The country’s socialist revolution has not made tattooing illegal nor have they explicitly licensed the industry, therefore leaving a gray area that Cubans refer to as “alegal”. This has driven the practice underground, with inspectors raiding their studios and confiscating the materials.
