Request QuoteI am a freelance journalist, documentary filmmaker, videographer and editor. I have nearly a decade of experience as a freelance reporter and photographer, mostly covering social justice issues. I am the writer, director and editor of the documentary film The Ghosts of March 21, which screened at numerous film festivals including the San Francisco Black Film Festival and the Oakland International Film Festival. I have also worked on several short documentary and video projects and have been a video editor for Organic Intelligence (organicintelligence.org) for the past two years, where I edit together study materials for their online training program. I am interested in short documentary and news projects in the Mexico City area. I have my own run-and-gun video and audio gear. I hold a BS in Journalism/Political Science from Northern Arizona University and an MA in Social Documentation from UC Santa Cruz.
An interrogation of race, power and justice in the contemporary United States, The Ghosts of March 21 focuses on the death of 26-year-old Lovelle Mixon and the factors that led him to kill four Oakland police officers before losing his life in the deadliest confrontation in Bay Area law enforcement history.
I was commissioned by the Louisville Eccentric Observer to write an article on protests in St. Paul, Minnesota, during 2008 Republican National Convention. LEO shared the article on the Association for Alternative Newsweeklies wire and it ended up being published in more than a dozen newsweeklies across the United States and Canada.
