As a skilled shooter and editor, she has been a creative force on a wide variety of projects. Due to her background in the arts, she specializes in documenting the lives and work of performing artists of international acclaim such as Luca "Lazylegz" Patuelli, Margie Gillis, and Ess Hödlmoser, and has worked for companies including Les Grands Ballets Canadiens and Cirque du Soleil. Kayla works primarily with Sony mirrorless cameras and is proficient in Adobe Premiere and Davinci Resolve.
I shot and edited this CBC lifestyle-TV special with a small team of talented filmmakers under the guidance of former CBC host Peter Jordan. When one of our editors had post-production challenges, I stepped in to solve them.

I was commissioned by choreographer Loa Olafson to document this work by a high school dance group that aims to spark discussion about missing and murdered aboriginal women in Canada.
Worked with Manitoba Construction Sector Council to document and share the story of a joint venture construction project between Berens River First Nation and Hugh Munro Construction.
Edited this short promotional film for Learning Through the Arts (directed by Randy Guest, shot by Tyler Funk). Brought in animator Rylaan Gimby to provide moving infographics. The script allowed for a large degree of creative input from the editor.
