Valerio was born in Rome and graduated with a major in Communication Sciences from La Sapienza University with a thesis on Jean Rouch and ethno-fiction. In 2011 he moved to New York City to attend documentary classes at New York Film Academy. In 2012 he developed and directed original content for i-Italy airing on NYC Life (WNYE-DT1). Since 2013 he has worked across the country as a freelance video-maker and camera operator for international news broadcasters Rai, Sky, Mediaset, HRT and TVI. Under the umbrella of the production company Awen Films, he has directed award-winning documentary shorts and other non-fiction productions – and initiated a long-term collaboration with Centro Primo Levi, which gave rise to the web-doc series “CPL minidocs,” a video-installation for “Rome Lab” at the Center for Jewish History, and the 30-minute documentary “Iom Romì,” which premiered at the 2017 New York Jewish Film Festival at Lincoln Center. His first feature film, “If Only I Were That Warrior,” was awarded the 2016 Italian Golden Globe and aired on public television in Italy (Rai Storia) and Switzerland (RSI La2). His latest feature documentary, “Mister Wonderland,” premiered at Festival dei Popoli in November 2019, where it won the "Il Cinemino" Award.

For more than a decade I have worked as a field producer and journalist covering stories in the U.S. and overseas, including the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. Right now I am a freelance multimedia journalist/reporter based in New York City, but I am happy to travel for an assignment. I shoot, produce, write, report, voice and edit packages, including hard news and feature stories. My most recent long-term field assignment was on the campaign trail for U.S. Election 2020 to cover Joe Biden and his presidential victory. I also traveled during the height of COVID-19 last year to California and Ohio to conduct interviews for a production company in the health care space. As a freelance journalist, I have covered the United Nations for networks like Al Jazeera and i24NEWS. When massive protests broke out in Puerto Rico in 2019, I was one of the first mainland journalists to arrive on the island to cover the “forgotten Americans” amid a political crisis. I did live reports and was on-air for back-to-back coverage for i24NEWS and Cheddar News. I recently wrote an article for the Christian Science Monitor that looks at how racial groups are uniting in solidarity against anti-Asian hate crimes and what that means for social justice movements like #StopAsianHate and #BlackLivesMatter. I have also written for the Daily Dot on topics such as the Trump administration's attacks on Planned Parenthood; white privilege; and the role of social media in Puerto Rico's demonstrations.

Katie G. Nelson is an award-winning journalist, photographer and filmmaker from Minneapolis, MN. She covers human rights, racial justice and global health in the United States and East Africa. She is currently based in New York City, NY. Currently, Katie is most well known for her visual coverage of George Floyd’s murder for The New York Times. Kayle Hope is an Emmy nominated video journalist and drone journalism professor at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY. Previously, she was a video producer for Quartz, covering science and technology. Kayle is passionate about using drones to better tell visual stories and educating the next generation of drone journalists. She is a Part 107 certified pilot and frequently incorporates aerial footage in her videos. Her reporting has taken her around the world from Cambodia to China, Bhutan, Switzerland, Germany, India, Nepal — and even on a deep dive in a submersible 1500 feet below the ocean surface, off the coast of the Bahamas. Kayle's work has appeared in the New York Times, NBC, Retro Report and The New Yorker, among other outlets. Danny Ghitis (b. 1982) is an editorial and commercial photographer whose personal projects revolve around the relationship between memory and identity. The son of Jewish South American immigrants, he moved around a lot as a child, which helped him to develop a lifelong interest in documenting the lives of strangers and culturally ambiguous communities. With his work he attempts to pose questions, rather than answers, to challenge expectations and encourage introspection. He is a frequent contributor to The New York Times, and tends to spend all his money on traveling and chocolate. When he’s not taking pictures he enjoys rock climbing and playing Dungeons and Dragons with his nerdy friends. Josh directed videos to help Tom win the DNC Chair race. Josh also was the Digital Video Director for the DNC Convention in Philly– which until helping a lot of campaigns win in Virginia this November, was also the last time he felt truly happy. After producing content for 7 races in the 2014 midterms, he took time off from face-punching climate deniers to conceive and carry out a citizen-empowering documentary on rising sea levels in the Maldives. This Bourdain-style travel series focuses on the human face of climate change around the world. Leah Galant is a Jewish filmmaker and Fulbright Scholar based in New York whose storytelling focuses on unexpected narratives that challenge perceptions. In 2021 she was recognized as one of DOC NYC’s 40 under 40. While at Ithaca College in 2015 she was named one of Variety’s "110 Students to Watch in Film and Media” for her work on THE PROVIDER that follows a traveling abortion doctor in Texas (SXSW 2016, Student Emmy Award) and BEYOND THE WALL about a formerly incarcerated individuals re-entry process. She was a Sundance Ignite and Jacob Burns Fellow where she created DEATH METAL GRANDMA (SXSW 2018) about a 97 year old Holocaust survivor named Inge Ginsberg who sings death metal which won “Best Documentary” at the American Pavilion at Cannes Film Festival, and is a NY Times Op Doc. Leah is a member of Meerkat Media worker-cooperative film production company. Leah's directorial debut ON THE DIVIDE premiered at the Tribeca 2021 Film Festival and will broadcast on POV PBS in the Spring of 2022 which she also shot.
