Soon after I created my own indy series called "Say Something Worth Something", SSWS for short. It was a play on the MTA transit slogan "If You See Something Say Something". It profiles artist and creators in the NYC Metro area that I felt deserved a platform. The series was picked up by Complex mag. and AfroPunk Festival. This series is what garnered the attention of KQED. I really enjoy working on docs long & short. I have a feature length doc on gender identity I completed this year in the role of Lead DP called "We Exist".

As a kid I was sure of one thing: when I was older I was going to be a Ghostbuster. I was going to haul my Proton Pack and Ghost Trap around in the Ecto-1, live in an old firehouse, and save my hometown from the tyranny of paranormal beings, three of my best buds in tow. When I came to learn that Ghostbusters weren’t real, but were instead fictional characters created for a movie, I did the rational thing and made my first and only career move into film making. The logic being, maybe I couldn’t be a Ghostbuster, but I could help make them… and hopefully meet one. Before attending film school I toured the country playing rowdy punk music with my non-Ghostbuster best buds. I gained a lot of experience on the road and through it accustomed myself to being exhausted, uncomfortable, and sometimes starving all the while chasing after creativity as fast as our beat-up van would go. I eventually made my way to San Francisco where I attended the Academy of Art University and studied cinematography. I again found myself in a state of lacking human comforts, but overflowing creatively. As a result of that experience and the connections I made within my program I was able to get myself onto set working as a First AC on numerous films, commercials, and music videos, leading me into my current role as a Director of Photography. As such, I practice technically adept filmmaking with a focus on igniting the imagination and pulling on the heart strings of my audience, the kind of film making that would make anyone want to be a Ghostbuster.

My name is Rosa Amanda Tuirán and I am a Mexican documentary filmmaker, photographer and investigative journalist based in the Bay Area. I received my Master of Journalism from UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism in May 2020. I worked as a News Video Fellow at BuzzFeed News and was a National Association of Hispanic Journalists Fellow at CBS News in 2019. In March 2020, I was part of the COVID-19 reporting project with the Investigative Reporting Program and The New York Times to help meet the need for comprehensive reporting on how the Covid-19 crisis affected California. After graduating, I worked on a PBS Frontline investigation, and have continued to pursue independent work about climate change and insecurity in Mexico. In November 2020, I published an investigation in The Counter about a meatpacking plant in Southern California that illustrates the national failure of OSHA to protect workers. Longreads recently included the piece in their best COVID-19 reporting of 2020. This year I worked as a series Producer for OceanX about the wonders of the ocean and those who explored it and I produced a Ford Foundation-funded podcast series about the murder of journalists in Mexico.

The team was a scrappy startup inside of a legacy media organization. We developed new workflows, trained staff and tackled technology challenges. Jun’s 13 years in journalism have taken her from reporting on Alaska Natives’ opposition to oil drilling in the Arctic National Wilidlife Refuge, to the fight against the U.S. military expansion in Guam and Okinawa. After graduating from Wesleyan University as a Film Studies major – Tara moved to Los Angeles in 2011 where she interned on the TV show Leverage before landing a job at the boutique ad agency Illumin8Creative. Within two years, Tara rose from Assistant Editor to Lead Editor, cutting trailers and sizzles for clients like Sony, Lionsgate and Miramax as well as company profiles and corporate videos for clients like Bank of the West. After a decade in the film & video industry, Dan realized that in a web-centric world, the captive audience that broadcast commercials took for granted no longer exists. He believes that authentic, entertaining, and meaningful content is what drives people to share a story--not a powerpoint slide filled with value propositions. He started Slow Clap in 2014 with the hopes of having an outlet to tell stories authentically; something he rarely got to do once he left film school. Dan was trained at NYU, where he received a B.F.A. in Film Production from the Tisch School of the Arts. He originally grew up on the Main Line of Philadelphia, but has lived in San Francisco’s Mission District since 2008. He’s collaborated with hundreds of brands like Sony PlayStation, Capital One, TNT, Apple, Google, Norton, Campari, Blue Shield of CA, and Environmental Defense Fund. His short films have appeared in festivals like SF DocFest, Oxford International, Cannes, and others. When you ask his team, they will tell you that Dan is the first to acknowledge when he’s wrong. Meera Angelica Joshi is an international filmmaker who was born in New Zealand, raised in Australia and currently lives in New York, USA. Meera started making films in high school which gained recognition from teachers and peers. She followed her dream to New York University to pursue writing and directing. While at NYU she gained skills in producing, art direction and editing which helped inform her decisions as a director. I'm a San Francisco-based storyteller working for a more equal and integrated society. I'm dedicated to challenging taboos and illuminating truths by giving voice to marginalized populations through film. I am in the post-production phase of my SF Film Society-sponsored short documentary, There Is a Place, about a musician who visits various Alzheimer's care facilities in the SF Bay Area. The film explores how contributing to a collective musical sound within a circle of peers brings out presentness, playfulness and a sense of connection in the face of memory loss, loneliness, and the end of life. Zachary Kerschberg is a narrative and documentary filmmaker based in the Bay Area. Born in the United States, he has lived in South America, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. His narrative films have screened at prestigious festivals around the world, including Cannes, SXSW, and Rhode Island, and his documentary films on disability have had special screenings at the United Nations, the World Bank, and the Paralympics. He most recently produced A Ciambra, which won the Sony Discovery prize at the 53rd Semaine de la Critique in Cannes. Mathew Ramirez Warren is a documentary filmmaker and journalist, whose work has been featured on PBS, National Geographic, The New York Times and NBC. Margaret Cheatham Williams is an Emmy-nominated independent film producer and editor, currently seeking opportunities and collaborations in the film, audio, and outdoor space. Previously Margaret Cheatham was a documentarian at The New York Times, where she pitched, produced, shot and edited narrative and documentary video and photography. She regularly collaborated with the graphics department to create interactive content. She is particularly driven to stories that examine the intersection of health, family and personal identity. Her other work at the Times took her to Pyeongchang, South Korea where she covered the Winter Olympics, to Brazil, and all over the US, where she has reported on postpartum depression, politics and produced 360 video. I’m a French-American journalist who films, produces, and edits documentaries. I'm a film fellow and producer at Still I Rise Films. I shoot and edit films for A Moment in Time Productions. Most recently, I directed and edited a short documentary that spans 10 years of San Francisco's "Flower Man." The film won the Grand Jury Award for Best Short Documentary at the United Nations Association Film Festival and the grand prize at the 2021 San Francisco Independent Short Film Festival. My current film, a short documentary about a community activist and how she stepped up to help the Latinx community when COVID-19 hit, premiered at the San Francisco Documentary Film Festival and is screening at the United Nations Association Film Festival, the San Francisco Latino Film Festival, and the Los Angeles Latinx Film Festival. I edited "We All Break," a feature documentary on Haitian Vodou and jazz funded by The Shifting Foundation and I filmed parts of a feature film that premiered in Berlin in the fall of 2021. A grantee of the Pulitzer Center for Crisis Reporting, I produced and edited illustrated stories on the challenges low-income students have faced during the pandemic over the course of a yearlong project. A story in that project recently won the Online News Association General Excellence for Online Journalism Award. I started my career as a print journalist, writing and editing for magazines and news websites. I've reported for The Associated Press, I worked as news manager at Yahoo and I'm the co-author of "San Francisco: The Unknown City" (Arsenal Pulp Press), which was shortlisted for a ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year award.
