Gabriella Nova (f.k.a. Parsons) is a Midwest-born-and-raised 90s kid, visual storyteller and freelance documentary filmmaker based in Austin, Texas. She is currently a seasonal producer for SXSW Film Festival. Gabriella’s work centers on community empowerment, social justice, identity and belonging. Whether producing a short doc or assisting clients with long-term communications plans, Gabriella loves working with teams to bring stories from ideation to completion. Formerly, she worked as an Emerging Media Producer for Nebraska Public Media, Nebraska’s PBS and NPR. During her time at CoJMC, Gabriella was an award-winning fellow of the Global Eyewitness photojournalism program, which she and other alums have worked with college faculty to reform since 2020.
