I have been working in news and documentaries since 2004 and have produced over 500 video stories seen globally. I am an Australian journalist with multimedia experience in online text and video production, television and radio reporting. Over my 8 years of experience, I’ve mastered lighting setups and worked with various lighting equipment, edited videos and sound, and crafted soundscapes. My work was recognized when I received an award for best documentary film in 2019. However, life threw its challenges, and due to the war, I had to relocate and change my job. Moving to the UK, I worked as a bartender in a rural area, but my passion for cinema never waned. I brought along only the essentials and earned enough to move to Liverpool and start my career anew. After graduating with an MA in International Journalism in 2015, I worked as a journalist, videographer and communications specialist across Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Most recently, I was The National's (UAE) multimedia producer in the UK and video correspondent in Jordan, where I produced breaking news and feature videos, exploring themes surrounding forced migration, women's rights and the environment. He was a journalist with some of the world's best-known media companies (BBC, ITN, The Guardian, Bangkok Post, TVNZ, ABC) from 1975-1995 before becoming a journalism professor. Adeel Malik is a development macroeconomist with a strong multi-disciplinary orientation. He holds the Globe Fellowship in the Economies of Muslim Societies at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, and is a faculty member of the University of Oxford. In 2015 he won the William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award for The Game of Our Lives:The Meaning and Making of English Football and the Sports Story of the Year at the Foreign Press Association Media Awards for his article for The Guardian Long Read, The prison where murderers play for Manchester United. His most recent book is The Games: A Global History of the Olympics, published in 2016 by Macmillan in the UK and WW Norton in the US. His most recent teaching gig was as Visiting Professor at Pitzer College, Los Angeles.
