I am an Ecuadorian filmmaker, grew up in Quito and have always developed a special love towards the history of this city and this country. I studied film and audiovisual studies in Emily Carr University in Vancouver, Canada. My first oficial short-film was released in the year 2014 and since then , I have being working as a Director, director of photography and editor in the Colombian / Ecuadorian region. In 2016 Estudio Trementina was founded, an independent production studio witch I created with 2 colleagues. Estudio Trementina has c=become one symbolic studio in ecuador because of the artistic content we create and because it has focused on cultural videos in its majority. I have produced videos for Art Galleries, Museums, Theatres and music festivals in Quito and Guayaquil. 2020 and 2021 I have worked as cinematographer and editor for a docu-series about the music scene of Ecuador. this last year I participated as cinematographer of an international interview with alJazeera about a Bolivian robot designer who works with recycled material i filmed a interviewsDirected more than 50 music videos and have being director of photography of of more than 20 episodes of different cultural short-documentaries . Bernarda Cornejo, DOP and Fixer. Since 2019, she has worked as a cinematographer for the feature length documentary “among us women I በኛ በሴቶች መካከል” directed by Sarah Noa Bozenhardt and co directed by Daniel Abate Tilahun that tells the story of midwives in rural Ethiopia. It premiered in Dok Leipzig 2021 where it won a mention under the international competition. Soy un hombre negro, feliz y nacido en la ciudad de Esmeraldas, al norte de Ecuador. Tengo 43 años y desde los 20 mis amigos me dicen Manolo, aunque mi nombre de pila es: Manuel Gonzales Quiñónez. El apodo se origina porque desde esa edad me junté con las cámaras fotográficas y coloqué en mi ciudad un estudio fotográfico. A los 4 años de creado ese espacio, fui contratado por Diario La Hora, regional Esmeraldas, para que sea su reporto gráfico donde trabajé hasta el 2020. Durante ese periodo recorrí los 7 cantones de la provincia de Esmeraldas y algunos de la provincia de Manabí, en Ecuador, no solo como fotógrafo, sino que, con el paso de los años, como reportero; los reportes están con la firma de MGQ. Entre las coberturas de más impacto estuvieron el terremoto del 16 abril del 2016, las migraciones generadas por el conflicto armado en Colombia que desplazaba a colombianos hasta Esmeraldas, también cubrí periodísticamente temas inseguridad como la minería ilegal, y en simultáneo fui coautor del libro: Periferias Crónicas del Ecuador invisible. En ese andar estuve en la Universidad San Francisco de Quito, donde fui ponente del “Congreso Internacional Periodismo en Debate con el tema: Emprendimiento mediático desde la frontera norte”, además ganador del concurso de periodismo de frontera, categoría permanencia, realizado en el 2021. Un año antes, en el 2020, creé y fundé la plataforma nativa digital Relatos Esmeraldeños, en la que voy relatando de forma inclusiva, positiva y reivindicativa la historia de quienes viven en la frontera norte del Ecuador, con énfasis los de la provincia de Esmeraldas, que tiene la mayor población de afroecuatorianos del Ecuador. Gracias a Relatos Esmeraldeños, en abril del 2022 gané en el concurso internacional de medio nativos digitales organizado por SembraMedia y la Embajada de Estados Unidos en la que valoraban los contenidos, innovaciones ajustadas a las normas periodísticas y con narrativas digital. Actualmente divido mi tiempo entre la realización de reportajes para Relatos Esmeraldeños y la colaboración con personas como ustedes que me buscan para colaborar en conjunto en sus ideas periodísticas o audiovisuales que desean realizar en provincias como Esmeraldas o en cualquier otro lado del Ecuador y el mundo, ese soy yo: Manolo o Manuel Gonzales. I have directed and produced various videos for the internet and big screens. During the first 5 years of my experience I dedicated myself to recording music videos. Then I dedicated myself more to the production of political and web content. I did a master's degree from 2018 to 2020 in NY. Now I also work with Touche Films, a major production company in the country. My undergraduate thesis project was a documentary that is uploaded on my YouTube channel. For many years I did a lot with a small equipment .
