John Javellana (b. 1984, Philippines) is a photojournalist based in Los Angeles, CA. His professional career started in 2008 as he was completing his degree as a Communication Arts major at the De La Salle University when he was hired as a stringer for the Reuters News Agency. After completing his degree, he became one of the youngest photojournalists to work for the wire agencies in the country and has covered most of the major news event up to this day. Primarily a news photographer who specializes in spot/breaking news, John is also a documentary cinematographer and has worked on documentaries for outfits shows and NGOs such as “58” for US Aid and Asia Foundation; “Philippines : Abuses Go Unpunished” for Human Rights Watch; short documentaries and pieces for Storyline and Rappler.com, where he worked as the photo editor in 2013.
