Hunter Johnson is a documentary filmmaker, editor, and photographer based in Chicago. For four years he worked with The Perennial Plate, shooting and editing human-focused short documentaries featured on PBS and The Atlantic. Hunter has created videos for Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, and recently produced a series of films for the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Counter-Terrorism and Human Rights. In 2020, he directed a viral PSA video featuring four Minnesota Governors, garnering over four million views. In 2021, he completed Until We Find Them, an award-winning short documentary that screened at 11 international festivals. Among other commercial and documentary projects, he currently works as a recurring DP and editor for CBS Reports. He holds a Master's in Human Rights from the University of Minnesota Humphrey School and a bachelor's in Film and Media Arts at Temple University. Hunter is fluent in Spanish.

I was the kid in high school figuring out old reel to reel machines and projectors in A/V club, and I've carried on that passion for technology and media to my professional career. Early on in my career, most of my experience came from my love for audio and music production. I tracked numerous local bands in the Cincinnati area including Walk the Moon, and Young Heirlooms, both in studio and on location. I've done sound for picture and live music video projects one of which won an Emmy award. I've worked as a field audio engineer for projects ranging from short corporate promotional videos to feature length films. Since those early days of running sound and tracking, I've pivoted to video production and find myself happiest with a camera in my hands on a shoot or traveling. I began polishing my craft at the Cincinnati Museum Center and National Underground Railroad Freedom center for 4 1/2 years as the head of video production and AV for both institutions. In 2016 I took a position in the corporate world as a Multi-media Producer at Paycor to revamp their video output from the ground up. Finally in 2018 I was able to make the move out on my own and launched Axe of All Trades, a full service video production outfit based in Cincinnati Ohio.

Siyan Huang is a video journalist and documentarian. She received her Masters' degree in journalism at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. As part of the program, she worked as a journalist for Medill News Service, and have reported on health, gender, animals and social justice issues in the U.S. She also travelled to South Africa and Puerto Rico to report on local issues, such as the stories of Chinese immigrants in South Africa and lives of drug addicts in Puerto Rico. She created and produced a 16-minute documentary with her documentary partner Taylor Goebel as the final project for the documentary class. This documentary is among a few films that were pre-selected to screen at the American Documentary Film Festival in April, 2018. After graduation, she was granted a Fall Internship position at Kartemquin Films, the Chicago documentary powerhouse. During her time there she worked as the Production Assistant for the film Dilemma of Desire and Left Handed Pianist, which further solidified her field shooting expertise. In 2019, she joined the CNBC American Greed production team as a production assistant to work on American Greed season 13. She's currently a freelance videographer/video editor based in Chicago.

Josh Chitwood was born in Indiana in 1994 and was raised in a small southern Illinois town. As a transplant family from Indianapolis, and with Syrian-Lebanese roots, his family did not fit the mold of this rural town. Filmmaking and the creative process became his outlet at an early age. Throughout high school, Josh began developing his craft by making skate films, short documentaries and videos for his parent's church. In 2012, Josh moved from Illinois to Minnesota where he met his wife, Morgan. In 2014, Josh and Morgan started a film company called Chitwood Media. The heart of their work is to create films that cultivate inspiration, expand perspective, empower community and affirm hope. Their films reflect the unique creativity ingrained in each individual that goes beyond mimicking the popular. The themes of their storytelling and cinematography challenge misconception, reveal beauty, and reflect their personal faith. In October of 2021, the two relocated their business from Minneapolis to Indianapolis. In his free time, Josh enjoys spending time in his home and community with Morgan and their three sons, Marquelle, Reggie and Tony.

Hi there. I’m a filmmaker specializing in documentary film of all sizes. My work has appeared on PBS, Time Magazine, CNN, NPR, G4, Billboard Magazine and the Huffington Post. I frequently work with the internationally acclaimed Kartemquin Films (Hoop Dreams, The Interrupters), where I've just finished producing the award-winning documentary feature, "Raising Bertie." Other items of interest: Though I don’t look it, I'm mixed race. My father is Caucasian and my mother is Jamaican/Cuban. While I certainly didn’t get a lot of my mother’s pigmentation, I carry a deep and unique understanding of race and culture. It has helped make me into a compassionate, empathetic filmmaker. Diversity has also carried into my career. Wearing different hats has helped me develop a temperament well suited for travel and the unexpected. I spent over two years living, studying, working and volunteering abroad. I’ve been shipwrecked, lost in the jungle, tear-gassed and nearly stabbed by a 13 year old. I’ve also surfed Brazil, camped in the rainforest, splashed about in a volcano and made friends with a 13 year old. You win some you lose some.

The movie represents factual events that are particular to the Chicago area.The cast and crew of the movie come from diverse backgrounds which as the director I take pride in. Patrick Offenheiser is a filmmaker, editor and multimedia artist. Originally from Boston by way of Dhaka, Bangladesh and Lima, Peru, he graduated with a BA in Film & Electronic Arts and History from Bard College and went on to produce documentary work for non-profit organizations and television, focusing on marginalized and displaced communities, particularly in Latin America and the United States. While a Fellow at UnionDocs he worked as DP/Co-Director on Moved Every Way, a documentary featuring a volunteer-run LGBTQ church held together by the devotion of its members, exploring how individuals struggle to uphold church as a sanctuary from the harsh realities of the outside world and also as Editor on "Alphabet on Air a documentary featuring a performance art installation that takes place at a closet-sized gallery in Alphabet City, New York, that represents local, homeless and street artists. In his personal practice and work he pursues questions of memory, homeland and diaspora as well as cultural erasure and globalization. He is currently based in Brooklyn, New York.

I've worked as a video producer for the Chicago Tribune and Kartemquin Films (Hoop Dreams, The Interrupters and Life Itself), as an assistant editor on the MSNBC original series Ricochet about Chicago gun violence, and have worked behind the camera as a run-and-gun-style documentary filmmaker for organizations like TIME, BBC, Education Week and more. I have a Master's in journalism with a specialty in film and broadcast from Northwestern University's Medill program, as well as a degree in Geography with special research in Geology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. I've used what I've learned in both disciplines to make documentary films focusing on social issues, dissent, travel and environment. I work as a Writer/Creative Director for a video production company that offers animation and live action (documentary and concept-driven work) and bring my experiences as an on-set and in-the-field filmmaker to inform important creative decisions that help bring a concept to life.
