Among her non-fiction works are Kodo wa Awaseba (Gran Prix Expo Aichi Film Fest); Gaijin no Honne (2004); You Can Call Me Nikkie (2008); Women in Refugee: Stories from a Border (2009); Crossing Hispaniola (2010); Spirits to Enlightenment (2012-HotDocs) and Cracked Foundations a 28-min. documentary broadcasted on NHK World. Irene has also been an active producer and director for the Lebanon and Japan chapters of the Global Lives Project. In 2008 she was a fellow at the Flaherty Film Seminar and in 2009 a Resident Professional at the Knight Center for International Media. Her journalistic work has been published by The Japan Times, AFP, Al Jazeera Plus, CNNE, Globovision, MSNBC.com, Discovery Digital, NHK World, LinkTV, Center for Investigative Reporting and PBS Newshour.
