I have worked in journalism for eight years, branching often into marketing and sponsored content. At my core I am a storyteller, specializing in cinematography. As a field producer I have risen to challenges in many austere environments, including Iraq, Korea, India, Mexico and Standing Rock. I have also done on-camera correspondent work for documentary projects in Haiti and across the United States. I believe documentary filming is simple, but not easy. Thais Drassinower is a Peruvian filmmaker who graduated with High Honors from one of the most prestigious advertising programs at The University of Texas at Austin. She then moved to Chicago to work as a copywriter at the worldwide headquarters of Leo Burnett for Lápiz; their Hispanic creative shop. She wrote commercial scripts and traveled around the continent to shoot them: Mexico City, Buenos Aires, New York, San Francisco. While on set she fell in love with the world of directing and decided to make the jump. She is now finishing her last year of a MFA in Film Directing at Columbia University in the City of New York. Her previous work in advertising has been awarded at international creativity festivals such as El Ojo de Iberoamérica and the U.S.H Hispanic Idea Awards. Her first short film “Memories of The Sea" was an Official Selection at various international film festivals including Palm Springs Shortfest and Aspen Shortsfest, two of the top 5 film festivals for short films in the world. It was chosen "Best of the Fest" at the New York International Children Film Festival and was taken on a tour across America to be showcased in various cities. Kalen Cheng is a filmmaker and DP based in New York City. Kalen creates content that makes you feel, capturing moments, framing visceral emotions. She creates documentaries and narratives centered around themes of dignity, faith, race, and the empowerment of children. For the past several months I've been handling petabytes of data on at the National Geographic Channel. Sebastian Diaz is a New York based filmmaker and Emmy awarded editor (THE AND web series) originally from Mexico. His short documentary TOÑITA'S was a part of MoMA Documentary Fortnight 2014. His feature doc BRILLIANT SOIL was awarded the Material Culture & Archeology Film Prize at RAI Fest of Ethnographic Film, Edinburgh 2011.
