An award-winning documentary production company based in London and Barcelona, Fat Rat Films is a team of multi-talented, multi-disciplinary individuals passionate about the power of storytelling. As a company we travel across the world producing both independent cinematic documentaries, and work for clients with whom we cultivate long lasting and impactful relationships. In all of our work we take a story-led, people-centred approach, seeking to contextualise often complex subjects, and to highlight less obvious narratives. We believe that the beauty of documentary is in its power to engender human empathy; to take audiences on emotional journeys through lives, perspectives and realities they might not have considered before. And we harness that power in every inch of our work. In our 10 years as Fat Rat Films we have produced over 200 films, and have been screened on BBC Newsnight, The Guardian, New York Times, Al Jazeera and internationally at festivals, as well as going viral. Alongside film we also work across a range of documentary storytelling formats including radio documentary, VR, animation and digital longform. We let the stories dictate the format, and are always looking for new ways to surprise, entertain and enlighten our audiences. We invite you to dive into our back catalogue and to explore our website. If you want the story of your organisation to be told in a beautiful and bold way, please get in touch.

I enjoy what I do immensely; and I like to think it shows in the work I produce. With my twelve years experience I feel very confident creating engaging and emotive video content across many different sectors for various clients. Some of my work includes producing and filming five shoots in two weeks around the world for Zurich International, travelling through the Namib desert and climbing the highest mountain in Namibia with INEOS, producing a series of videos for Rolls Royce and scaling an active volcano with Richard Branson for Virgin. I can have many projects live at the same time and am involved in the production process from start to finish. I work closely with the client to achieve what they want by ensuring I get the best out of the crew and talent with whatever resources the budget can support and within the time scheduled. I shoot and edit most of the work I produce and have good pool of resources if required. I am confident when leading a small team, rely on my editorial eye to ensure quality at all times and consider good communication and dedicated working mentality important when on any job.

Rizky Rahadianto is an independent filmmaker with over six years of experience working with international media around the world, such as VICE, HBO (“The Last Cruise”), Netflix (“Human Playground”), Fairtrade (“Farmers”), Discovery (“Mystery of the Abandoned”), and Vox, among others. His work seeks to reimagine Indonesia’s hetero-patriarchal narrative through intimate collaborations with marginalized communities, from a Javanese dance troupe reviving an ancient drag tradition, to Timorese women tattooing themselves to survive sexual slavery. As a queer filmmaker himself, Rizky's ultimate goal is to create more space for nuanced minority representations and push for a more visually-just society. Rizky joined VICE as a senior producer in 2016 when the youth media company expanded to Indonesia. He helped build the Indonesia office’s video department from scratch, producing over 50 documentaries, and growing the channel from zero to over 500,000 subscribers in two years through popular series like Indonesia Riot, Akarasa, and Indopop. Since Rizky left VICE in 2019, he has continued producing content for various international media as a freelancer and screening his work at film festivals around the world, such as South by Southwest Film Festival and Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival.

My name is Hossam Sarhan. I am a video producer with experience on a multiple-award winning investigative documentary. I currently work at the BBC World Service and BBC Arabic where I have produced and animated stories on topics ranging from male sex abuse in Iraq to the struggle of transgender people in Kuwait, which have gained more than a million of views on the BBC different platforms. I have a keen interest in investigations on human rights issues affecting communities from the Middle East. In 2017, I was the UK executive producer for the multiple-award-winning investigation the End User. It revealed how weapons were being used in the war in Yemen had been supplied by the UK and the US, among others, in an apparent abuse of international laws and trade agreements. The investigation found a huge success, with around three million views. The main producer and investigator Mohamed Aboelgheit had won the Fetisov Journalism Award first prize in the category "Outstanding Contribution to Peace" In the year of 2019, and had won the golden medal from the United Nations Correspondents Associations as well. In 2015, I was one of the first people who helped in establishing the Arabic version of the lead platform AJ. I recruited top talent to help produce videos which received the most views on the Arabic platforms. All stories have more than more than 1 million views/each. In November 2015 I moved to London for a different challenge, I worked as a promo producer for a leading Arabic-Tv, I was the main script writer for the promos, I’ve written nearly a 1000 scripts and my promos got around 20 millions views around different platforms. Back in 2012, while still in Egypt, I created a political campaign in my country that led to the victory of the first civilian president in the Egyptian history. My campaign called “Squeeze a lemon”, which is similar to the famous English idiom “with a pinch of salt” The campaign found huge success and was widely popular. A lot of people had captured themselves squeezing a lemon over their head after voting. Due to its popularity, the civil candidate had won over the opposing candidate and gained 13 million votes. In relation to the campaign, a new political term had been formed “The lemon squeezers”, and the press and media named the 7 million votes that the candidate got in the second round of elections with this name, the name I created.

Hello, I'm Zoe, a filmmaker born & bred in London. I've worked in the industry for over 6 years, starting off as a humble delivery driver supplying productions around the UK with all the optical, camera, lighting and grip equipment they needed. Today I love working behind the camera, whether as a self-shooting PD or working alongside a full crew, I just love to shoot. But it's not all camera camera camera for me. Before going freelance I spent 4 years working in-house at an agency as a Producer & Director, working predominantly on big fashion campaigns, live shows and documentaries. I have the upmost respect for the fashion industry, having had the privilege to work from the inside for many years and the good fortune to maintain my old clients so I can continue to collaborate. Since being freelance, I've branched out into sport and live action, given my own love and passion for competition, fitness and documenting humans pushing the boundaries. I have a full GVC drone licence and my own DJI Air 2S which I love to go fly! Please don't hesitate to give me a nudge if you want to discuss any productions, in whatever stage or capacity you're at. I'm always, always around for a chat. Zoe
