From the early days of crafting stories in grammar school to the bustling sets of major networks and corporations, my journey in storytelling and filmmaking has been nothing short of a remarkable adventure. It all began in 2002 with a script that ignited my passion for filmmaking, leading me to the prestigious Academy of Art University in San Francisco. There, I honed my skills in editing and the fundamentals of shooting, gaining invaluable experience working with a San Francisco news station and a local wedding photo and video company. My pursuit of excellence in this field took a new turn when I moved to Las Vegas. Here, I collaborated with various production companies, a phase of immense learning and growth, before taking the bold step to establish my own full-time business. This venture has allowed me to work with an impressive array of clients, both small and large, including notable names like Monster Products, MSNBC, FOX Sports, CNN, Inside Edition, Future Studios, Verizon Wireless, and Hitachi Digital Services. My passion for creating original content led me to embark on a new project, a mini-documentary show titled ‘Evryday People’. This endeavor embodies my commitment to storytelling and my eagerness to explore new horizons. As I look forward to the future, I am excited about the endless possibilities that await and the stories yet to be told.

Gary Alvarez is an independent filmmaker based in Los Angeles. He graduated from Chapman University's Dodge College of Film with an M.F.A. in Film Production (Directing) in 2012. Since then he has been working professionally as a writer/producer/director. Born the youngest of three sons to working-class Mexican immigrants in Monterey Park, Gary was raised in the barrios of Bell. At 19 he enrolled in UC Berkeley’s Chicano Studies Program and studied abroad at UNAM before graduating in 2002, after which he returned to Los Angeles and taught for the subsequent 10 years. In 2004 Gary embarked on a journey that changed his career path and ultimately his life: he traveled across Mexico from Tijuana to Cozumel, penning a manuscript that was later adapted into a screenplay. Numerous screenwriting workshops and indie film sets later, he decided to transition into a career as writer/director. Gary’s passion is writing and directing narrative films as well as producing documentaries. With the series boom on Netflix and Amazon Prime, he added writing for television as a personal goal. Currently he is developing a new series, writing his next full-length screenplay and producing a feature documentary based on the Bell political corruption scandal of 2010. From 2015 to 2018, Gary taught screenwriting and film production to young filmmakers from underrepresented communities in Los Angeles and Orange Counties through the Latino Film Institute’s Youth Cinema Project. Since February 2016, Gary has been hosting an internet radio music show called Persistence of Sound every Wednesday evening from Espacio 1839 in Boyle Heights. His aim is to document the stories of local creatives through interviews via the show’s guest DJ segment Patched In.

Originally from St. Louis Missouri I was always playing with cameras as a child. This led me to being the lead photographer for my newspaper and yearbook in high school. I managed to make money selling my own work at flea markets and craft shows in the area. Then I came to LA where I have been crafting my photography and video skills, learning everything from working at a production company to being on set of every type of film set or on location. I love working with teams or being out in the field as a one-man-band. I have had the opportunity to be either a photographer, videographer, cam op, DP or AC on many different projects that I'm extremely proud of. I've shot content for Venmo, Alka Seltzer, Insomniac Events, American Express, Refinery29 x Adidas, APEX, GLO, Ben and Jerry's, Lady Gaga's Haus Labs, Funny or Die, Buzzfeed, Disney, Nickelodeon, The Horse Network, OM Digital with clients such as Loreal, MLB, Dior, Laura Mercier, MLB, The Academy, HBO, and many others.

COREY CAO NGUYEN is an emerging Vietnamese American Cinematographer based in Los Angeles/Orange County who's shot for A24 and PBS. Nguyen prides himself on placing the story above all in his work and emphasizes in a naturalistic style that truthfully depicts characters in their world and builds empathy and emotion through light. This approach led Nguyen toward documentary work in his early career. FRAT HOUSE (2018 Dir. Nancy Nguyen), a film about the last gay bar in a homophobic town, and WITHIN THEIR GATES (2019 Dir. Matthew Goriachkovsky), a film about a survivor’s narration of his time at the Japanese American Internment camps, were early projects that pushed Nguyen to prioritize stories that centered the voices of the marginalized and oppressed. From there, Nguyen began to work internationally and directed and shot educational ecological documentaries all across the world. Working with rural students in the countrysides of Paraguay to sites of anti-colonial activism in South Africa, Nguyen gained a cosmopolitan perspective as both an artist and person. Now, Nguyen has shifted his focus toward narrative and commercial projects, but still focused on marginalized voices. HAJUN BLOOMS (2020, Dir. Mary Kim), an LGBTQ+ narrative short shot on 16mm about the abuses of the Christian Church toward young lesbian children, will premiere at the world-famous Austin Gay and Lesbian Film Festival as well as other festivals across America. When not on-set, Nguyen works to draw attention to injustice and systemic racism. He’s a show host for the progressive OUR SMALL MAJORITY podcast in which he directs and produces DO YOU KNOW, an audio storytelling episodic series that recreates and explains moments of anti-blackness that have gone untaught and ignored in American history.
