Sepehr Mikailian is an Iranian-born filmmaker living in Los Angeles. He started his studies in performing arts at the Iranian National Radio and Television Academy and later majored in Theatrical Arts at the College of Art and Architecture at the University of Tehran. Young Kim grew up in Uganda, East Africa where from an early age he was exposed to extreme poverty, crime and conflict. While studying at the University of Southern California - School of Cinematic Arts (2007-11) he started documenting civil unrest and human conflict. As a photojournalist, he has covered the struggle of immigrants, police brutality and the anti-war movement in Los Angeles.
