Alex H. Gómez is the Founder, Creative Director, and Director of Photography of Intercultural Productions, a production company specializing in culturally appropriate media. He is a native Colombian and has been in the film and journalism fields for over twenty-five years. Alex is an award-winning documentary director whose work has been shown internationally. In Colombia, he worked as a producer and documentary director at TelePacifico. Although his work covered diverse areas concerning the lives of Colombians, much of it centered on indigenous and Afro-Colombian communities in order to raise awareness about their lives, perspectives, and hopes for the future. After moving to the US, Alex created Intercultural Productions as a way to break down barriers between different cultures and groups of people and use communications tools for promoting equity and understanding. Alex holds a deep appreciation for diverse cultures and social issues and it permeates through everything he does. Alex holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from Universidad del Valle in Colombia and a Masters of Communication and Education from

Crystal Kayiza grew-up in Oklahoma and is now a Brooklyn-based documentary filmmaker and 2018 Sundance Ignite Fellow. Her work focuses on pursuing more nuanced and diverse storytelling about Black communities. She is a recipient of the 2017 Jacob Burns Film Center Woman Filmmaker Fellowship. As a Woman Filmmaker Fellow she directed and produced, Edgecombe, a short documentary examining the ways trauma repeats and reinvents itself in a rural Black community in Edgecombe County, North Carolina. After graduating from Ithaca College in 2015 with a degree in Documentary Studies and Production, Crystal spent two years at the ACLU working on racial justice and criminal justice issues. Her documentary work and writing has been featured in The Nation, Scalawag Magazine and OkayAfrica. She received a Heartland Emmy Award in 2012 for her film All That Remains, which profiles Boley, Oklahoma, one of the nation's last all-Black towns.

Raymond has a Master’s degree in International Relations from National ChengChi University in Taipei, Taiwan and has been working as a producer, cameraman and editor for over 15 years. He is also FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot certification Raymond started his career while working and studying in Beijing China. In 2004, he moved back to the United States to work on his first film called God's Open Hand. The film charts the course of Afghanistan’s first presidential elections in Afghanistan. Born and raised in Venezuela where he began his career as a visual journalist, documenting mainly social issues and violent protests. He has successfully directed, shot and produced over 50 short pieces about the Venezuelan crisis amassing millions of views. David is a Brooklyn-based director (and sometimes DP and editor) from Melbourne, Australia. Director, Photographer, DP/CameraOperator Content creator My mother was gifted a brownie camera by her brother prior to my having been born. It was then she began documenting every waking moment of life, and I was soon to follow. One of my earliest memories is of a light so bright it seemed like the sun shining straight into my eyes causing a bright start into this world. I now know that was the ‘movie light’ for her 8mm film camera. In High school, I thought taking photos and movies of everything was normal, and was often made fun of for it, until my classmates saw the prints then all wanted copies for themselves. I was an aspiring musician, taking my lunchtime to practice on a piano I didn’t have at home, and stayed after school everyday to do the same. To avoid advanced Algebra (I hated school) I was offered to join the Television department for our township in South Jersey/suburban Philadelphia, since it was based out of our high school. I became a broadcast camera operator and newscaster for a semester, and have held a camera ever since. It started out of high school with shooting weddings and events for a local photographer and photo lab I worked with while going to school for music. Then was hired to shoot for the school. Afterwards,, I spent some years as a photo assistant and digital tech to some of the top image makers in the business, all while shooting on my own. Since then, I’ve incorporated more motion/video to my image making, going out as aCamera Operator/DP. Smoke & Apple Films is an all-female filmmaking team who produce feature-length documentaries as well as short form non-fiction content that parlay powerful storytelling into action. Our directorial debut was "The (Dead Mothers) Club" (a personal film about women who lost their mothers during childhood and the long term impacts of that loss). The film was acquired by HBO in 2014. Our second feature, "The Family I Had" told the story of intra-family violence and juvenile incarceration through a mother's unwavering love for her son who killed her daughter. It was acquired by FilmRise and broadcast on Discovery I.D. after premiering at Tribeca Film Festival in April 2017, won the Special Jury Mention for Best Documentary at Raindance International Film Festival and The Gracie Award for Best Documentary in 2018. Our most recent film, "1275 Days" followed 4 teenagers charged with Felony Murder after an unarmed botched home invasion- it was an official selection at DOCNYC2019. Melissa is an award-winning documentary filmmaker originally from the Caribbean island of Antigua. Throughout her career in NYC, Melissa has worked with award-winning documentary filmmakers including Ralf Schmerberg at Radical Media, Academy Award nominated directors Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady at Loki Films, and Academy Award winning director Alex Gibney at Jigsaw Productions.
