I started out as still photographer freelancing in the Washington D.C. Area. I was published in just about every magazine in town as well as National and International news outlets. I was able to travel thanks my camera. I love melting into the crowd or background and capturing the moment, mood or feeling. After years of freelance I worked as a press photographer for the U.S. Department of State. A few years in, State hired me to produce, shoot, direct, and edit short form documentaries traveling domestically and internationally. For me, documentaries are personal insights to spectacular people and their lives. Sometimes I want to expose a wrong and sometimes I just want to revel in someone's goodness, quirkiness, talent, silliness. What makes humankind act the way we do? What motivates us to make choices, start organizations, ruin lives for our own gain? How does one find their demise? Human life is so pedestrian at times and then so unpredictable. Our duality is fascinating.

Nova West is an artist, filmmaker, photographer, conservationist, and environmental educator originating from southern Minnesota. Currently based out of San Diego California, their passion lies in exploring our natural world and finding creative ways to inspire others to jump in. Mark Abramson (b. 1988) is a Russian-American freelance photographer and filmmaker based in New York City. I am drawn to telling stories that allow me to pass through a window and enter into subjects’ lives and document their existence and experiences. Much of my desire to cover issues concerning immigration and other social issues come from the fabric of my family history and its migration from the former Soviet Union and how that has enabled me to work with my camera. My interest in exploring reporting led me study print journalism at the George Washington University, which then led me to receive more formal training as a photographer and video journalist at the Washington Post and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel I am an English, Russian, Spanish, and Hebrew speaker and a regular contributor to the Wall Street Journal. I'm a videographer and editor based in Los Angeles, working primarily in the music world but open to all projects. I have worked as a DP on independent shorts and fashion editorials, shot/edited various behind-the-scenes videos, shot/directed/edited a number of music videos, and have worked as an editor and assistant editor on popular YouTube reality shows, among other roles. John Javellana (b. 1984, Philippines) is a photojournalist based in Los Angeles, CA. His professional career started in 2008 as he was completing his degree as a Communication Arts major at the De La Salle University when he was hired as a stringer for the Reuters News Agency. My documentary origin story is an unlikely one. I graduated from Skidmore College with a degree in Modern Dance and Creative Writing. After a colorful stint as an au pair in France, I made my way to the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies in Portland, ME where I studied radio and multimedia production. It wasn’t long before I was hooked. On I went to NPR and PRX's State of the Re:Union where I worked on an hour of stories about transgender life in America. Then, I came to NPR West in Los Angeles to work as a Production Intern for Weekend All Things Considered. And now, I'm taking off across the United States with my partner and collaborator, Steven B. Jackson, in search of our country's untold stories.

The aim of my work is to empower communities by connecting their stories. I’ve traveled to the most remote corners of the U.S. filming the impacts of climate change on human lives – families in Arkansas rebuilding after an oil spill, a small town in California’s central valley running out of water. I documented the United Nations conference on climate change in Paris and flew over the Alberta Tar Sands, giving voice to a First Nations community living downstream from one of the worst ecological disasters in the world.
