Valerio was born in Rome and graduated with a major in Communication Sciences from La Sapienza University with a thesis on Jean Rouch and ethno-fiction. In 2011 he moved to New York City to attend documentary classes at New York Film Academy. In 2012 he developed and directed original content for i-Italy airing on NYC Life (WNYE-DT1). Since 2013 he has worked across the country as a freelance video-maker and camera operator for international news broadcasters Rai, Sky, Mediaset, HRT and TVI. For more than a decade I have worked as a field producer and journalist covering stories in the U.S. and overseas, including the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. Right now I am a freelance multimedia journalist/reporter based in New York City, but I am happy to travel for an assignment. I shoot, produce, write, report, voice and edit packages, including hard news and feature stories. My most recent long-term field assignment was on the campaign trail for U.S. Election 2020 to cover Joe Biden and his presidential victory. I also traveled during the height of COVID-19 last year to California and Ohio to conduct interviews for a production company in the health care space. As a freelance journalist, I have covered the United Nations for networks like Al Jazeera and i24NEWS. When massive protests broke out in Puerto Rico in 2019, I was one of the first mainland journalists to arrive on the island to cover the “forgotten Americans” amid a political crisis. I did live reports and was on-air for back-to-back coverage for i24NEWS and Cheddar News. I recently wrote an article for the Christian Science Monitor that looks at how racial groups are uniting in solidarity against anti-Asian hate crimes and what that means for social justice movements like #StopAsianHate and #BlackLivesMatter. I have also written for the Daily Dot on topics such as the Trump administration's attacks on Planned Parenthood; white privilege; and the role of social media in Puerto Rico's demonstrations.

Danny Ghitis (b. 1982) is an editorial and commercial photographer whose personal projects revolve around the relationship between memory and identity. Leah Galant is a Jewish filmmaker and Fulbright Scholar based in New York whose storytelling focuses on unexpected narratives that challenge perceptions. Joe Hill is a journalist, photographer, and media producer. He is currently an Associate Producer for Vice News Tonight on HBO. Joe began his professional career as the founder and Executive Director of The Unexpected Laboratory, a creative production company that confronted current affairs with multimedia storytelling. Now called Round Room Image, his company focuses on international nonfiction media production. Over the last 18 years, I have worked in almost every field of film, TV and video production and television journalism, and have spent the last nine years managing my own news and media production company. I have an excellent knowledge of the industry, as well as a proven track record of running a company and managing staff, projects and budgets. Michael Eckels was born in Middlebury Vermont as the youngest of five children. His parents are both math teachers. He grew up heavily immersed in cross-country skiing, a sport he enjoys to this day. Michael received a B.A. in English from the University of Vermont, with additional intensive studies at London’s University of Westminster. After college he served as a Peace Corps volunteer English teacher in far eastern Russia outside of Vladivostok. From literature and languages he moved to news and documentary photography at The Moscow Times and Agence France-Presse. With the progression of digital video technology into still cameras, Michael began to expand his horizons into cinema. Xinyan is an award-winning video journalist and filmmaker based in Washington DC. Born and raised in Wuhan, China, Xinyan started her journalism career in 2012 working as a producer for BBC News in Beijing covering the Asia Pacific region. Her video work has been published by the BBC, Architectural Record, Plus Model Magazine and others. Her short documentary Relevé, about a black male ballet dancer's journey from Chicago's projects to an elite NYC dance school, recently won an Audience Choice Award at a short film festival in New York. Her range of video experience - from filming rugby games to jails and juvenile offenders to exotic animals - has made her into a versatile shooter. She is a recent graduate of Columbia University School of Journalism's documentary program, where she focused on digital reporting and video production. She speaks French, German and Bengali and has an expertise in South Asia.
