I'm a freelance radio producer, journalist and documentary filmmaker based in Los Angeles, CA. My beat is hard to pin down. I've covered mental health, graffiti art, insect farming, ghost hunting, psychedelic medicine and more. Above all, I like stories that inspire, surprise and inform. I like stories that make us wonder about something we never thought we'd care about. I'm a graduate of the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies in Portland, Maine, where I specialized in writing and multimedia. I interned with NPR West in Culver City, where I subsequently worked as a producer for Weekend All Things Considered. I was raised on the Oregon coast, schooled in Wisconsin, and spent a year volunteering with AmeriCorps and traveling around the US. Now I'm making my way as a freelancer. I love traveling, I love adventure, but most of all I love producing video stories. I've been working in video production since 2012 when I started graduate school at the University of Southern California. It was there that I learned the craft of documentaries. I spent two years living in Anchorage, Alaska, traveling around the state producing videos for Alaska Public Media. My videos ranged from mini documentaries for our Indie Alaska series, to underwriting spots for our sponsors. I now freelance out of Southern California. I'm a one-man band. Taj grew up in the tiny hamlet of Royalston, Massachusetts, a tight-knit community of artists, craftspeople, and small business owners in rural New England. Heeding the call of adventure, Taj traveled to Singapore to hone his filmmaking skills at NYU Tisch School of the Arts Asia. He graduated with an MFA in Film Production after shooting films in Pakistan, Korea, Japan, Nicaragua, Singapore, and Kuwait. Upon leaving Asia, Taj returned to his roots in New England to make a series of videos profiling local craftsmen, artists, and small businesses.
