Puerto Rican filmmaker known for his documentary work and music videos. In 2001 he began as director, videographer and editor in the award winning Geoambiente, on which he travelled through the island's natural habitats and cities, working with scientists and communities to reflect on current environmental challenges. In 2005, he directed and edited the feature documentary "Aljuriya", which examined the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from the perspective of activists involved in the struggle. Gabriel is also recognized for his Emmy Award winning musical feature “Sono, Sono, Tite Curet” (2011), the bio of a legendary musical composer and his legacy throughout Latin Amercia, and New York. In 2014, he was the recipient of the international fund Doctv for his feature documentary “Armonía”, about the struggle of a small town unemployed music teacher. He has also worked as freelance editor and videographer in feature films, documentaries, music videos and commercials.

Throughout my 20-year career as a photojournalist, I have contributed my skills as a visual storyteller to international news agencies, publications and NGOs, as well as created and led projects in collaboration with photographers across the Americas. I also have experience developing multimedia products which advance an organization’s mission by creating or curating stories that accurately portray relevant issues, as I have done for the Inter-American Development Bank and the Human Civil Rights Commission. Born in 1996 in the island of Puerto Rico, Natasha Cánepa always had an active mind when it comes to art from doodling in her notebooks to drawing/painting in her art class. With the drive to become an artist, she pursued a bachelor's degree in Animation in 2014 at Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia. During her time there, she would expand on her skillset through several aspects of production like storyboarding, character animation and post-production, inspiring her to take on multiple projects including her own student shorts with her third-year film “Ready to Fight” and her personal project “Lay Your Hands on Me”, an abstract animation with Boom Boom Satellites’s namesake song as its main theme. Her college path was soon topped with her senior film “Magic Play”, a project made by a small team of students, which was recognized by both SCAD and over a hundred festivals around the world including Puerto Rico’s LUSCA Fantastic Film Fest where it would earn the award for Best Local Animation. Today, she is working as an independent artist with her one-woman studio, Natasha Cánepa Animation Studios, offering multiple services in animation production along with leading the brand Forever Boricua which covers her traditional hand painted works inspired by the vibrant lifestyle of her island. Her client work ranges from advertising to educational material through businesses including Invision and Creator Up with each one being taken care of with highest regards to quality. Meanwhile, her production work can be recently seen in the short film “Metro6” as Writer, Storyboard Artist and 2D Effects Animator, Min Micglaugh’s All Nighter Survival Guide as Storyboard Artist and in her next short, “Place to Place”, a project that was primarily made during quarantine in 2020. Outside of work, she would connect with young artists on social media and regularly help them with sharing their art and her advice in developing their brand in the digital age.

Since 2008, Jaime Villa Ruiz has honed his craft as a filmmaker to create striking moving images that tell a story. Starting as an Art Department Coordinator and Set Dresser, Jaime later transitioned to working behind the camera. His projects have taken him around the world with clients like Amazon Studios, Awesomeness TV, ESPN, Fandango, Facebook Watch, Flex, HBO, LA Metro, Lifetime/ AE, Nike, Tastemade, and many more. In 2014, he won a Craft Award at NYU’s First Run Festival for his cinematography in the short The Banaue Boy. His first feature film as a cinematographer, Pecado Original, won Best Foreign Film at the DTLA Film Festival in 2018, continuing its festival run at the Austin Film Festival and the Chicago Latino Film Festival among others. The film is now distributed by HBO and AppleTV+. Recently, he shot and directed Pachyman’s El Benson music video. Storytelling, whether real or imagined, is an art form as well as a craft. I'm an award-winning screenwriter, film director, journalist, and architect, but when people ask me what I do, I tell them I'm a storyteller. I have been working alongside, and increasingly, leading creative teams in the development and production of award-winning film, journalism and architecture projects for over 11 years. Most recently I was named a Finalist in the WeScreenplay Diverse Voices Screenplay Competition for my short film, Rich Like Julio Lobo. I have worked with major global news organizations like Gizmodo, Global Citizen, Univision, VOA ( Voice of America), Circa News, and Al Jazeera to provide groundbreaking news coverage of the devastation caused by Hurricane María on the island of Puerto Rico. Cristian Carretero is a filmmaker originally from Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. He graduated with a B.A. in liberal arts from Sarah Lawrence College, and also studied cinematography at FAMU (Prague). In 2014 he received his MFA from New York University. His films are mainly concerned with the contemporary Puerto Rican and Caribbean reality. In 2016 he won two Emmy Awards for producing the documentary “Semillas” and the science television show “LCC” both made for WIPR TV. His original work has screened at BAM Cinematek, Anthology Film Archives, Montreal Film Festival, Denver Film Festival, Habana Film Festival, Sydney Latin American Film Festival, San Francisco Short Film Festival, Clermont Ferrand Film Festival, just to name a few. In 2013 his acclaimed short about dominican immigration, "Yolanda" won Best Short Film at the Festival de Cine Global Dominicano, Screen Loud Film Festival at the Anthology Film Archives, and the Carl Lerner Award for social significance, among other international recognitions. His short film "This Island”, commissioned by the French Institute, won Best Short by at the Festival de Cine Europeo. In 2015 he produced the experimental short “Diptico” commissioned by the “Santurce es Ley” urban art festival. In 2016 he finished a short shot in Harlem, New York, titled “The Ticket”, which debuted in the Habana Film Festival. He currently works as a freelancer collaborating with companies including National Geographic, CNN, i24, CienciaPR, among others.
