An anthropologist and filmmaker, his first feature, “Adelante,” a feature length documentary about Mexican immigration to a historically Irish Catholic church outside of Philadelphia, screened on over 20 PBS affiliates, played at over 30 festivals, and was screened at over 40 colleges. The film won awards at numerous festivals including the Catskill Mountain Film Fest, the Accolade Film Fest and the International Festival of Ethnological Films. His short doc, Searcy County,” screened domestically and internationally, including the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival and the Sebastopol Documentary Film Fest. He has written about film in journals including “Southern Spaces,” “Visual Communication,” and “The Journal of the Royal Anthropological Institute.” He is currently editing a feature-length documentary about Mexican and American tree planters in the southeast United States, an innovative film that be the first documentary film accepted for a PhD at the University of Pennsyvania
