I'm a San Francisco-based storyteller working for a more equal and integrated society. I'm dedicated to challenging taboos and illuminating truths by giving voice to marginalized populations through film. I am in the post-production phase of my SF Film Society-sponsored short documentary, There Is a Place, about a musician who visits various Alzheimer's care facilities in the SF Bay Area. The film explores how contributing to a collective musical sound within a circle of peers brings out presentness, playfulness and a sense of connection in the face of memory loss, loneliness, and the end of life. Aside from my personal film projects, I've worked with corporate, nonprofit and solopreneur clients to deliver compelling videos that serve their messages. These projects include both documentary-style and narrative shorts, and I drive these projects from creative story development to production, direction and post-production.

I am a documentary filmmaker, directing feature length documentary films. I have been working with social justice groups to create media to tell their stories for 12 years. I have produced hundreds of short videos to be shared online. I have been creating media around worker's strikes, election campaigns, etc so I am used to producing videos on tight deadlines. ShakaJamal is a culturally innovative artist and filmmaker from Oakland, California. His experiences as film producer, director, cinematographer, editor, writer, performing artist, and music producer bring a distinctive and invaluable perspective to any venture. ShakaJamal searches for stories that reveal the unseen scars of everyday people and strives to reveal how that pain is transformed into a motivating force in their lives. Mathew Ramirez Warren is a documentary filmmaker and journalist, whose work has been featured on PBS, National Geographic, The New York Times and NBC. His feature-length documentary directorial debut, We Like It Like That, was broadcast on the PBS show America ReFramed, made Rolling Stone’s “15 Must See Movies at the SXSW Film Festival 2015” list, NBC’s “10 must see Latino and Latin American films of 2015” list, and won Best Documentary at the UrbanWorld film festival. Margaret Cheatham Williams is an Emmy-nominated independent film producer and editor, currently seeking opportunities and collaborations in the film, audio, and outdoor space. Previously Margaret Cheatham was a documentarian at The New York Times, where she pitched, produced, shot and edited narrative and documentary video and photography. She regularly collaborated with the graphics department to create interactive content. She is particularly driven to stories that examine the intersection of health, family and personal identity. Through deep character exploration, she aims to tackle intimate issues including gender, fertility, and sexuality. In 2018 she piloted Conception, a highly visual and lyrical exploration of the myriad ways that women become mothers, and the journey that ensues. In the series, we introduce you to six women — each with a transformation uniquely theirs — in first-person accounts of love, regret, doubt and strength. Season II addresses the complexities of raising children in our modern era – We asked parents: What does it mean to raise children in the context of #MeToo, the immigration discussion, the opioid crisis and the gun debate? Her other work at the Times took her to Pyeongchang, South Korea where she covered the Winter Olympics, to Brazil, and all over the US, where she has reported on postpartum depression, politics and produced 360 video. Margaret Cheatham’s work has been recognized by the Livingston Awards, the Hearst Foundation, Pictures of the Year International, the National Press Photographers Association, Society for News Design, and the South by Southwest interactive awards. I’m a French-American journalist who films, produces, and edits documentaries. I'm a film fellow and producer at Still I Rise Films. I shoot and edit films for A Moment in Time Productions. Most recently, I directed and edited a short documentary that spans 10 years of San Francisco's "Flower Man." The film won the Grand Jury Award for Best Short Documentary at the United Nations Association Film Festival and the grand prize at the 2021 San Francisco Independent Short Film Festival. My current film, a short documentary about a community activist and how she stepped up to help the Latinx community when COVID-19 hit, premiered at the San Francisco Documentary Film Festival and is screening at the United Nations Association Film Festival, the San Francisco Latino Film Festival, and the Los Angeles Latinx Film Festival. I edited "We All Break," a feature documentary on Haitian Vodou and jazz funded by The Shifting Foundation and I filmed parts of a feature film that premiered in Berlin in the fall of 2021. A grantee of the Pulitzer Center for Crisis Reporting, I produced and edited illustrated stories on the challenges low-income students have faced during the pandemic over the course of a yearlong project. A story in that project recently won the Online News Association General Excellence for Online Journalism Award. Gina DeGirolamo has been working in the film & television industry for over 30 years. She received her degree in communication & television production at Ohio State University and began her career in New York City at a high profile commercial production house, Michael Ulick Productions/Geoffrey Mayo Films. The 3 years spent there were an excellent introduction into the fast paced and high demanding world of film production. She worked as a production assistant and became very familiar with the ins and outs of a multi million-dollar production company. Once Gina chose to focus her career on the cinematography aspect of production she moved to Los Angeles. She spent 1988-1994 working as a camera assistant on television commercials along with dramatic and comedic television series. Gina took the leap to camera operator on the hit HBO television series DREAM ON. From there she lensed numerous shows including PROVIDENCE, ARLISS, MURDER ONE, THE CLIENT, ANDY RICHTER CONTROLS THE UNIVERSE and many others for ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX. She has been a passionate Director of Photography on several independent films, documentaries and short films since 1997. Gina has spoken at numerous universities including USC and AFI about the role of the cinematographer with the intention of bringing practical knowledge to the classroom. She has also helped many first time directors get their careers off the ground by shooting short films and first time features. In the last 15 years, Gina has broadened her scope of filmmaker to producing, editing and directing. Gina has been honored by the International Cinematographers Guild 2005 Short Film Showcase for her work on BROTHERS and has shot literally hundreds of short form videos for the web. She continues to work in the documentary film world along with sharing her passion for helping small business owners and corporations broaden their video presence on the web. Melina Tupa is an award-winning Argentinean and Brazilian journalist and documentary filmmaker, specializing in human rights and Latino issues across the world. She started her career as a print reporter for Billiken magazine and Diagonal Newspaper in Argentina but soon moved onto visual journalism. She worked for five years as an associate TV producer, three of those years at Turner Broadcasting System. There she wrote and produced short news formats that aired during commercial breaks, in-between shows and were shared on social media in nearly every Latin American country. Melina holds a Bachelor in Journalism degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina and a Master of Journalism degree from UC Berkeley, focusing on Documentary Filmmaking and Photojournalism. At the Berkeley J-School, Melina was awarded a TV/Documentary Merit Fellowship and the Carlos M. Castañeda Journalism Scholarship. Her documentary thesis The Search, told the story of Estela de Carlotto, the president of the Grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo, whose grandson was abducted during the Argentinean military dictatorship. I'm an independent documentary film director, producer, and editor, and a Berkeley City College faculty member of the Multimedia Department, where I teach video arts. I most recently worked as a Senior Producer for eight years at San Francisco's PBS/NPR affiliate KQED, where my team and I were awarded 17 industry awards, including several Webby Awards, regional Northern California Emmys, and recognition from the Society of Professional Journalism - Northern California. I led arts and culture video coverage and special projects featuring the region’s creative communities and beyond. Documentaries I directed for KQED explored the impact of gun violence on Black and Brown communities, the toxic legacy of uranium mining on Native lands, and recovery in the aftermath of Northern California’s wildfires. Prior to my work with KQED, I directed and produced the national Emmy-nominated documentary “Tulia, Texas” (PBS’ Independent Lens,) documenting a landmark civil rights case exposing racial injustices in America’s War on Drugs. I also produced the national PBS Not In Our Town specials “Light in the Darkness,” and “The Fire Next Time,” (POV), and produced numerous regional episodes of the anti-violence storytelling project. My other producing and directing credits include “Rising from Ruin” (MSNBC’s Hurricane Katrina special,) “Policing the Force” (WNET’s Expose: America’s Investigative Reports,) and “Murder in St. Petersburg” (PBS FRONTLINE World.) I am an established, award-winning documentary filmmaker. My last three films were funded by ITVS for PBS. "Maria Goes to the Homeless World Cup" will be a short video about the transformative power of sports meeting the thorny issue of homelessness. This innovative program is achieving results in 50 countries, which are all sending teams of homeless soccer players to the annual HWC. The piece will be timely this summer, during the official World Cup. This is the story of one young woman from Minneapolis, a former prostitute, who is selected to represent the U.S. at the 2013 HWC. We get to know her back home, watch her play, interact with people close to her, and then go abroad as the goalie of the U.S. Womens team. Does the trip actually have an impact on her life? We follow Maria after she returns home to the challenges of daily life. Street Soccer USA, which runs programs in 18 U.S. cities, estimates that 75% of the players find help within a year. Footage is all shot and logged, but not edited. This story will form part of a 1-hour doc about the U.S. Womens team. Jonathan Smith is a Director of Photography and editor from Pontiac, MI. Débora Silva is a Brazilian journalist now residing in California. She started her career at a television station in São Paulo, Brazil, right after graduating with a degree in Journalism. For four years, she worked as a reporter and producer for a documentary news program about social and political issues in Brazil. In 2009, Débora moved to California to pursue a career as an international correspondent. She graduated in June 2014 from a Master’s Degree program at UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism with emphasis in television. Kenny was raised in the rocky mountains of Montana which is where he received his bachelor's degree in Marketing and Media Arts from the University of Montana. Since graduating Kenny has lived in San Diego and Philadelphia. In these cities he sharpened his professional skills as a creative marketer by working for many organizations such as BEMER and the University of Pennsylvania. In the last 2 years Kenny traveled the entire length of the United States by car twice for career reasons but ultimately for the adventure. He now permanently parks his Honda Civic at his new home in Oakland. In 2024 from Berkeley City College he received a film certificate in directing and producing. He loves to travel, but Kenny looks forward to planting his roots in the communities in the San Francisco Bay Area. You can often find Kenny hiking in one of the many Oakland redwood groves, shooting photographs of the beauty he sees around him or finding his center at a YMCA yoga class.
