Director & DOP for 11 years now. In total, I have Shot & Directed FOUR 'Ob Doc Broadcast TV shows' and all up TWELVE Ob Doc Budgeted TV pilots. It all involves Conjuring up Stories on the spot, writing the Voice Overs in Post and having a knack for bringing something to life. Inbetween what feels like a 1000 Corporate Videos. So how did it all begin? I started my 1st TV Broadcast Credit with a Show I was the 'DOP' and 'Director ' for, called Search4Hurt, which was sold to ESPN. A gruelling Fitness ObDoc Series. During this time I was mentored by ESPN’s Host of ‘Aussies Abroad’ at the time Jason Bennett for two seasons before moving on. He taught me how to tell a story better while I Shoot, Direct and Post Produce. My work caught the eye of Post Op Group, the largest Post House Facility in Australia who do all the big shows like ‘The Block’, ‘My Kitchen Rules’ etc. They decided they wanted to start making their own TV shows for the first time under the name KlinikTV and hired me as their 'Director / DOP' I helped construct seven TV Pilots with Aussie celebrities during my time there and one Broadcast 'DOP' Credit on CH 7. I was heavily trained and mentored daily by great and very experienced TV producers in the industry that worked there. My Freelance career started after this creating High-Corporate videos too grueling Ob Doc shows. I have travelled the world Shooting and Producing from Antarctica to Mt Everest Basecamp and all around our great land Australia. Now about to film my fourth Feature Film.

I am an accomplished foreign correspondent, producer and video journalist. Over the past 20 years I have shot, produced and reported over one hundred current affairs length reports and documentaries in over 80 countries. I am currently working as independent Filmmaker and a Correspondent for the 'Our World' program on BBC Television. (2016-2020) I have travelled extensively throughout the United States on more than 25 feature assignments for SBS (2000-2014). My work at SBS has been complemented by work with Al Jazeera (2006-2013) and I have made more than a dozen films for the network's Witness, People & Power and 101 East programs. I have received a number of international awards including two New York Festivals Silver World Medals for Best News and Documentary Special, and best news reporter. I have extensive experience in reporting from hostile environments, including the Madagascar, Lebanon and the Caucuses. In 2014, I covered Thailand's political violence followed by extensive reporting from Eastern Ukraine from the start of the civil war to the downing of MH17. I am a directing cameraman and shooter producer based in Sydney, Australia. My focus is documentary and factual television series and branded digital content. I have experience working internationally having previously been based in the UK and Spain. I have worked on many social issue and factual documentary series for local networks such as the ABC, SBS, Nine Network, Channel Seven, Sky News, Ten Network. I have also produced / directed and filmed international series series for Discovery, National Geographic, the BBC and Vice. Career highlights have been filming on a boat in the Sydney to Hobart yacht race, setting up Top of The Pops in NZ and filming in refugee camps in Africa and the Middle East. I started my career at TVNZ in New Zealand training as a cameraman then headed off to Europe where I worked for many years in London. After a stint back in New Zealand setting up iconic music series Top of The Pops for the BBC, I moved to Spain on an adventure to set up my own production company. I am an all rounder; able to be a sole director/ cameraman off by myself or be part of a larger crew and directing multi camera set ups. I have the latest camera equipment and lenses and know my way around various editing platforms and broadcast satellite systems.

I have worked with television broadcasters, production companies, creative agencies, brands and businesses across the world. From breaking news to branded content, feature documentary to children's TV, my passion is visual storytelling. I started my career creating travel videos for Princess Cruises. Hitting the ground running in new and exotic locations I've filmed everything from volcanoes erupting in Papua New Guinea, cliff diving in Mexico to cultural celebrations across Asia. After years of globe-trotting and hundreds of hours of footage later, I returned to Australia to work in commercial television. Moving into daily news, I covered politics, press conferences, natural disasters, sport and major events. With a desire to create content with more depth I now shoot & produce documentary features and scripted segments for Logie award winning program "The Project". LITERALLY, there are things the Australian public would not see if Gary Ramage did not photograph them. Ramage, a triple Walkley Award-winning photographer, is one of Australia’s leading news and documentary photojournalists, with more than 30 years experience in the industry. From Shapelle's Corby through to the Christchurch massacre and most recently the Australian bushfires that ripped through last summer, Ramage has been there behind the lens capturing history.
