Hey there! I'm Ashraf Mswaki, but you can call me Ash. I'm a seasoned storyteller, filmmaker, and a catalyst for change with over 9 years of experience in the field. My journey began in the bustling streets of Istanbul, where I discovered my passion for documentary filmmaking. Fuelled by this passion, I honed my skills at Bahcesehir University, graduating with a degree in Films and Television. One of my proudest achievements is my debut documentary, "White Potion," which earned accolades at prestigious international festivals. It marked the beginning of my cinematic adventure and my commitment to telling compelling stories. I currently collaborate with Volkano Films and Wanene Entertainment, where I produce and direct narratives that inspire and deeply resonate with audiences. But I don't stop at just storytelling. I believe in action. My involvement with the Tanzania Youth Coalition showcases my dedication to creating positive change within communities. But what sets me apart for your event coverage needs? Well, I bring a dual skill set to the table. Armed with a Sony FX3 for video coverage and a Sony A7 III for photography, I can capture the essence of any event, online or offline. I've had the privilege of covering events in various settings, from corporate offices to elegant hotels. These experiences include not only traditional video and photography but also live-streaming, making sure your event reaches both online and offline audiences seamlessly. I am a professional videographer and photographer. I also am founder of Alama Creative Solutions Limited, a production company based in Arusha, Tanzania. I believe we can contribute to peoples lives through telling stories. Stories form our past, present and future. Whether real or fiction, they define who we are and where we are going. In African cultures, where people’s histories are narrated from one generation to the next, stories define culture and identity. Stories are who we were, who we are and who we will be in the future. I'm a Canadian with a Master's degree in journalism from Carleton University in Ottawa. I like long form in all its forms (radio/TV docs, magazine articles, nonfiction narratives, etc.) for the challenge it presents the journalist and the nuance/knowledge it -- at least, potentially -- affords its public. Since finishing school in the spring of 2013, I've been living in East Africa. Recently I spent five months working in a Dar es Salaam TV newsroom, working as a co-conspirator of sorts, employed by the Canadian organization, Journalists for Human Rights. The goal was to generate human rights stories with impact. Now I'm bouncing between Kenya and Tanzania, freelancing. I'd love more work. I like consuming content about people or communities doing or dealing with exceptional, off-the-radar things. I like producing pieces about the same. I'm lugging a Swahili textbook around with me, and can carry a (short) conversation. You'll find examples of my video, print, audio, and photography work in my online portfolio: http://briellemorgan.weebly.com/. Thanks for your consideration!
