11 reviewsDocumentaries are my passion. In 2008 I premiered my first feature-length documentary, Hit, about the personal stories behind some of the most famous songs in my home country, Uruguay. Currently, Im working on my second film with co-director Claudia Abend: Never Better tells the stories of a group of eighty-somethings who decide to start all over just as they reach a moment in life when everything seems to have been done: run a marathon at 85, learn to read and write at 80, or divorce a high-school sweetheart at 82. Aside from film, Ive worked as a journalist since college in print and television, and more recently as a freelance videographer at Agence France-Presse. Uruguay is a very under-reported country, full of compelling stories to tell: did you know that hip-hop a completely alien rhythm in the local culture is being used in some barrios to keep teenagers away from drugs? Or that a group of scientists is trying to determine the genetic factors that might explain why Uruguay is the country with the most ageing population in the region? Or that the president Jose Mujica is trying to create a government-run marijuana market?
