Gary Alvarez is an independent filmmaker based in Los Angeles. He graduated from Chapman University's Dodge College of Film with an M.F.A. in Film Production (Directing) in 2012. Since then he has been working professionally as a writer/producer/director. Born the youngest of three sons to working-class Mexican immigrants in Monterey Park, Gary was raised in the barrios of Bell. At 19 he enrolled in UC Berkeley’s Chicano Studies Program and studied abroad at UNAM before graduating in 2002, after which he returned to Los Angeles and taught for the subsequent 10 years. In 2004 Gary embarked on a journey that changed his career path and ultimately his life: he traveled across Mexico from Tijuana to Cozumel, penning a manuscript that was later adapted into a screenplay. Numerous screenwriting workshops and indie film sets later, he decided to transition into a career as writer/director. Gary’s passion is writing and directing narrative films as well as producing documentaries. With the series boom on Netflix and Amazon Prime, he added writing for television as a personal goal. Currently he is developing a new series, writing his next full-length screenplay and producing a feature documentary based on the Bell political corruption scandal of 2010. From 2015 to 2018, Gary taught screenwriting and film production to young filmmakers from underrepresented communities in Los Angeles and Orange Counties through the Latino Film Institute’s Youth Cinema Project. Since February 2016, Gary has been hosting an internet radio music show called Persistence of Sound every Wednesday evening from Espacio 1839 in Boyle Heights. His aim is to document the stories of local creatives through interviews via the show’s guest DJ segment Patched In.

Myron Parran is a freelance Director/Director of Photography. Myron began capturing images on film in 1997. He is known for his creative muse and attention to detail. Myron's works have spanned a range of genres, and they include "Sweet Home Alabama," "The "Wire," "Wolverine," "Pirates of the Caribbean," and "The Expendables." To date he has worked on over 45 feature films covering 3D, Animation, Underwater and Aerial Photography. Myron has combined his background in Prosthetics and film by creating innovative camera platforms for stereoscopic films. Those innovations include remote controled stereoscopic, and aquatic devices used on the films Africa 3D, and Enchanted Kingdom 3D. Myron made his Directorial/DP debut on the series "Infamous," where he was credited with bringing a unique combination of strong visuals and seamless direction to the film. He is a member of the International Cinematographers Guild.

I'm a freelance multimedia journalist, visual storyteller, photographer, and producer. I cover culture and identity through a Latinx lens. In the past, I've created a video series for LA Weekly called "Abuelitas and Chefs" which tells the stories of Mexican chefs in L.A. and how they are influenced by their grandmother's. My work has been featured on Remezcla, KCET, LA Weekly, and Mitu, among others. In 2017, I served as a lead researcher and story producer for a documentary series on Latinos and cannabis. Most recently, I was an associate producer, translator (English to Spanish), casting lead, and script supervisor for a project at a creative agency with 108 video deliverables. I currently serve as an associate producer on "A Woman's Work," a feature documentary about wage theft in NFL cheerleading premiering at Tribeca this spring. I'm passionate about in-depth stories that create connections between culture and social issues and that give a voice to those that need to be heard the most. As a Latina I find it crucial to have perspectives like my own featured more frequently in mainstream media.

Kenneth Was Born In Quezon City, Philippines and arrived In The United States at the age of thirteen. Growing up around his father – An Architect — fostered a fascination with aesthetics and meticulous detail in Kenneth long before he had any serious interest in Film. Upon arriving in The United States his family moved to Burbank, California, a major media city in close proximity to several major studios. This change of environment played a major role in the development of Kenneth’s interest in Film. For several years Kenneth worked as a visual designer where his love for typography and meticulous detail allowed him to excel. This work would eventually translate into one of Kenneth’s most important traits, his attention to detail to all things. His humble background and exposure to the numerous cultures in Los Angeles have contributed to his philosophy and visual style. he sees his work as a grand design in which everything has a purpose where both substance and style are brought together. Award-winning writer, director and producer in film, TV and journalism for 10 years. My recent directing work includes industry-recognized car ads for Hyundai, viral spots for brands like Amazon & Adidas, and social impact documentaries for Clorox. Before becoming an independent filmmaker I was a Senior Creative Producer at BuzzFeed Branded Video for 3 years. I juggled several projects at a time and in all different stages of the production process - one in post overseeing the edit, on set directing, doing a final copy edit on a script, and sending in a fresh pitch deck. Previously I was a network producer at Discovery Science Channel where I worked on shows like "The Unexplained Files," "Alien Encounters" and "Prophets of Science Fiction with Ridley Scott." I know the ins and outs of pitching to networks, developing shows and executing them on accelerated and full timelines. Before that I was at CNN Special Investigations and Documentaries, where I still have strong relationships from working on specials like "Unwelcome: The Muslims Next Door," "Battle for Blair Mountain," and "Latino in America." As an accomplished producer I received a Peabody for coverage of the Gulf Oil Spill Disaster as part of the "New Orleans Rising" documentary with Soledad O'Brien, Visionary Award at Summit Emerging Media Awards for the "Young Entrepreneurs" series for Hyundai, and spots on the Youtube Ad Leaderboard. While I am a creative who envisions a project coming to life as soon as I read the words on the page, I'm also a producer who knows how to deliver assets that meet client's criteria on time, and under budget. I can one-man-band it shooting 4k, editing in Premiere and creating graphics in Photoshop, run-and-gun with a camera op and sound guy on a doc shoot, or direct a commercial spot with a crew of 70. Erica Elson is a Production Supervisor at the American Film Institute as well as a graduate of AFI's Screenwriting MFA. Originally from Montreal, she received her BA in Communications and Film Studies from Concordia University and worked for the Line Producer of the Canadian show SOPHIE before moving to Los Angeles. After graduating from AFI, Elson freelanced at ABC, Warner Bros, VH1 and MTV. She was then a Showrunners Assistant on VH1's HINDSIGHT, where she had the chance to write for the web series PLANET SEBASTIAN. Elson’s articles have been published by the Huffington Post, Lifehacker and Readers Digest, among others. Lauren Schwartzman is a documentary film director, editor, and producer based in Los Angeles, California. She also works as an archival producer for documentary films. Lauren was the Associate Producer and Assistant Editor for the Oscar-nominated documentary Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution (2020, Dir. Nicole Newnham, Jim LeBrecht). The film was executive produced by President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama and premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award. S-hekh Shem Hetep Ebron is a freelance director hailing from Brooklyn, NY, who deeply believes in the transformative power of storytelling. S-hekh Shem started her career in journalism, allowing her to live in Paris and travel to over 38 countries. S-hekh Shem met people from all walks of life who inspired her ensuing work. In 2014 she relocated to Los Angeles and began working as a Production Supervisor for several years, managing commercial production budgets of 2 million and over and working with high-profile celebrities like Lebron James, Cardi B, Selena Gomez, Samuel L Jackson, Magic Johnson and many more. In 2015, S-hekh Shem along with her sister, Nzinga Ebron organized yearly service trips to Gisenyi, Rwanda to administer teacher workshops and provide school supplies for over 200 underserved students at the Ruben Primary School. This experience ignited her passion for filmmaking and in 2019, she directed her first feature film, Ishema, inspired by the Rwandan genocide. This film was entirely shot and cast in Rwanda. The following year, S-hekh Shem partnered with Oscar winner Casey Affleck and director Annika Virdone to create Stories From Tomorrow, a social media fundraising initiative to ensure children worldwide have access to food and remote learning tools. In 2022 was the shadowing director on the new Apple series “Lady in the lake” under Alma Har’el. S-hekh Shem has directed music videos for Grammy-nominated artists.
