An Oscar-nominated filmmaker, Sam’s work has appeared on HBO, BBC, CNN, Channel 4 News, Vice, Al Jazeera, National Geographic, and other outlets. Sam spent five years in Afghanistan, where he directed the Oscar-nominated narrative film “Buzkashi Boys.” His most recent documentary With This Breath I Fly, about two Afghan women fighting for their freedom after being imprisoned for “moral crimes,” has won over a dozen awards at major film festivals. Sam has directed episodes of the Emmy-nominated documentary series Religion of Sports and Why We Fight, and the Red Bull series All In and Life of Kai. He is currently working on Dominion, a documentary about a new generation of evangelical climate activists, and Skinhead, a narrative feature film about former neo-Nazi Frank Meeink, a true story exploring one man’s fall to power and rise into grace. He has served on juries for the IDA Documentary Awards, the Austin Film Festival, the Istanbul Film Festival, the Dumbo Film Festival, and New York Shorts International. Mobolaji is a storyteller/educator with Jamaican Christian and Nigerian Muslim parents. Growing up mediating multiple cultural identities has inspired him to use cinema as a tool to illuminate the superficial conditions that divide us and accentuate the merits of shedding our prejudices. He attended both University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), where he graduated with honors, and the American Film Institute (AFI), where he won the Directors Guild of America (DGA) Student Filmmaker Award. His feature documentary, "Ferguson Rises," won an Audience Award at the TriBeca Film Festival and represented Independent Lens/PBS at the Television Critics Association. Noted film critic Kenneth Turan called "Ferguson Rises," "Excellent and Impressive." Mobolaji is a Gotham/HBO Fellow and repped at UTA where he is developing both narrative and documentary projects, as well as Helm Content where he is directing commercials.

NATALIE SCHWAN is an award-winning commercial and narrative director and producer who is known for work that celebrates the vastness of the human condition, the journey of the overcomer, and the spirit of adventure. She has received multiple Telly Awards for directing and producing, produced Webby-nominated work, and recently won 2nd place in the She Directed Audience Awards Competition for her J.K. Rowling biopic short film Jo. In 2015, she launched her full service, award-winning production company Velocity Creatives, which creates commercial and narrative content that present stunning visual stories that inspire, challenge and excite. She has created work for brands including SONOS, Colgate and Goldman Sachs. Her heart is in travel and exploring, and you can often find her planning her next international adventure. She is constantly drawn to historical narratives, and is set to direct her debut feature Rebel, an action packed film based on the true story of Deborah Sampson, the first female soldier in US history who disguised herself as a man and fought in the Revolutionary war. She is also developing a period era Ellis Island narrative series surrounding stories of immigrant children, a female-driven scripted anthology series that celebrates hidden histories of bold women, and a traveling docuseries focused on international cuisines.

Gary Alvarez is an independent filmmaker based in Los Angeles. He graduated from Chapman University's Dodge College of Film with an M.F.A. in Film Production (Directing) in 2012. Since then he has been working professionally as a writer/producer/director. Born the youngest of three sons to working-class Mexican immigrants in Monterey Park, Gary was raised in the barrios of Bell. At 19 he enrolled in UC Berkeley’s Chicano Studies Program and studied abroad at UNAM before graduating in 2002, after which he returned to Los Angeles and taught for the subsequent 10 years. In 2004 Gary embarked on a journey that changed his career path and ultimately his life: he traveled across Mexico from Tijuana to Cozumel, penning a manuscript that was later adapted into a screenplay. Numerous screenwriting workshops and indie film sets later, he decided to transition into a career as writer/director. Gary’s passion is writing and directing narrative films as well as producing documentaries. With the series boom on Netflix and Amazon Prime, he added writing for television as a personal goal. Currently he is developing a new series, writing his next full-length screenplay and producing a feature documentary based on the Bell political corruption scandal of 2010. From 2015 to 2018, Gary taught screenwriting and film production to young filmmakers from underrepresented communities in Los Angeles and Orange Counties through the Latino Film Institute’s Youth Cinema Project. Since February 2016, Gary has been hosting an internet radio music show called Persistence of Sound every Wednesday evening from Espacio 1839 in Boyle Heights. His aim is to document the stories of local creatives through interviews via the show’s guest DJ segment Patched In.

Peter is an award winning documentary filmmaker. Over the course of his career, he has made over 8 short films which include Fish on Fire, Te’la, My kabukabu lief, Concrete under water, Golden Hill etc . His work has been featured in some film festivals around the world. His latest work Breaking was featured at the 2020 edition of the Silcon Valley Africa Film Festival (SVAFF). He has also freelanced as a DP on a number of Nigerian reality TV shows, music videos and BBC documentary series SO YOU THINK YOU CAN FARM (SYTYCF) 1n 2019. Peter has a keen interest in documenting the lives of ordinary, every-day people who are often overlooked by society but who have testimonies that inspire. He takes inspiration from other documentary makers who include John Rowe, Emmanuel Lubezeki. Peter studied Cinematography at The Pencil FIlm and Television Institute and also has a BA in Business Studies from Lagos State Polytechnic. Peter was one of 10 people representing Nigeria at Akoma Amplify Fellowship (2017) for Africa’s storytellers and content creators and was selected as one of the 16 filmmakers invited for the Global Short Documentary Forum 2018 (GSDF) by ONE WORLD MEDIA in London.

I'm an international filmmaker and gerontologist based in Southern California (OC/LA) with a passion for creating inspiring, beautiful, adventurous, and meaningful projects which can bring benefit to society. I have had the honor of producing, directing, shooting, and writing a nationally-televised sportsmanship campaign on Fox Sports Network, corporate training films for Merrill Lynch-Bank of America, and a promo film for an international USC research study, the Intergenerational Mobile Technology Opportunities Program. I have since engaged in various production and consulting projects, enabling me to collaborate with a variety of multidisciplinary professionals on an international scale. I have most recently been involved in the South African industry while also producing a short documentary series with U.S. NGOs in Uganda. I am an award-winning, multi-faceted filmmaker based in Los Angeles. Over the past 20 years I have traveled from the remotest beaches of Indonesia and the Solomon Islands to the bustling red carpets of Hollywood, serving as Director, Producer, Cameraman, Editor, and Writer on a diverse series of documentaries and films. I am currently in production on a blue-chip film (as Writer/Director), The Hudson River: Journey Into The Wild, written and developed for Skyland Productions / RanFilms, (Austria), and co-funded by Smithsonian Channel and ARTE. My most recent films cover science and nature themes for National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, NOAA, U.S. National Marine Fisheries Service, the Smithsonian Institute, as well as for NGO’s such as WWF, Wildcoast International, Ocean Ecology Network, ProNatura, and The Nature Conservancy. When I was a toddler my parents couldn't find me a babysitter, so they did what any responsible guardians would've done... they brought me to my first Saturday matinee... Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. That first encounter with movie magic exploded into a lifelong passion that had taken me from acting to art direction to producing. I even gave music a shot as a singer-songwriter. But that hectic vagabond existence became hard to sustain. I needed to refine my focus. After soul searching and strategizing my next step in a new direction, I came to the conclusion that I didn't want to work on one element of filmmaking. I wanted to work on them all, but that didn't seem possible... until I discovered the joy of editing. Since that time, I've earned my B.F.A. at the Academy of Art University where I majored in editing, while simultaneously starting ScreenDrifter Productions -- my freelance post production company. ​ Being an editor has been the most rewarding avenue I've walked down in my creative journey and I'm excited for whatever future collaborations are on the horizon.
